I rounded a corner and heard male voices talking angrily. I strained my ears to try to hear what they were saying but only caught parts of the conversation. From what I could get they sounded like they might be talking about a job that got messed up.
I definitely didn't want to be caught by them. I slipped behind some crates and crept over to the wall across from me pausing between gaps to try not to get caught. Once I was at the wall I saw a door a few feet away from me. Sprinting toward it, I heard people yelling behind me.
There was the sound of people running in my direction as I slipped out the door. Please don't let them have seen me! I needed to get home to tell Rook I'm ok. I ran in the direction that I could hear cars driving by. When I finally made it to the street I waved down a taxi just as a three vans screeched to a halt next to me. I barely made it into the cab.
"Go!" I yelled to the cab driver and they slammed on the gas.
Once we were far enough away from the vans the driver asked, "What was that?!"
I breathed a sigh of relief. "It's a long story. Do you think you can drop me of at the closest police station please?"
He muttered a quick response and rounded a corner heading for the police office down the road.
