I jumped down from the cliff and met with them.
"Rygus, are you okay?"
He smiled at me, "Just scratches and bruises, nothing serious."
"I enjoyed the battle, Kersia. Maybe we can duel some other time."
"It would be my pleasure."
Xarius walked up between them, "I don't think there will be more time for duels, Helle. There's a serious case."
She looked confused, "What happened?"
"For centuries, the Bluers have helped us with our needs. Well, they follow the rules set by humans like no murdering with magic or no magic-sharing. Some Bluers had the idea of not following these rules and shared their powers with humans. They formed a group called "Poison" and intend to take over the world. Apparently, some humans convinced them that Bluers shouldn't be in human's control, but rather the opposite."
"That sounds like something out of a novel, Xarius." Helle laughed and slapped him on the back.
He did not look like he was joking.
"Helle, this is serious. The reason I'm telling you this is that I wish you would come along with me to catch the criminals. Your powers will be useful."
"Can you tell me why you're doing these things again?"
"Because it is my job to protect the city. I'm in the Offense and Defense Program, remember?"
"Blab all you want, Xarius. But I'm not going."
"Can I go, too?" Rygus pleaded.
"You? Who are you, anyways?"
"Ever heard of the Kersia? I'm one of them!"
"The elite assassins? You don't look like one of them."
"I really want to go. Please?"
"Why do you want to go?"
"When I walked around the village, people was intimidated because of my Kersia family symbol. So I'm trying to prove to them that not everyone of us is bad in nature."
I should have known.
"Okay, then. But Helle, will you please seriously consider this offer? You can be a huge help to us."
She thought for a while, then she pointed her finger into my face.
"If he's going, then I will go, too."
...
Why me?
