He stares at the lonely tree upon the green hill, the lushes’ leaves sway lightly in breeze. A single cloud could not be seen in the clear azure sky. He smiles a calm serene smile as the birds flutter over his head, that’s when she calls to him. Hypnotized by her musical voice he turns around, he sees her beautiful raven hair covering her face as she looks to the ground. Concerned he walks towards her and asks if she is alright.
She lifts her head slowly while cackling, his eyes meet hers. They were not his lovers’ eyes; her eyes were a dazzling hazel. This woman, this monstrous creature’s eyes were nothing but jet-black orbs. Its mouth twisted into a smile showcasing its razor sharp teeth as it grabs his shoulders with claw like talons. It opens its mouth and strikes at his face. He pushes the demon off and begins to run towards the hill with the lonely tree. As he turns to run he falls into a strange thick liquid that smells like tin.
He tries to swim upwards before he drowns, as he clambers to the surface he feels something bizarre. It feels like flesh but it is floating so he decides to climb up on top of the strange object. He opens his eyes and in disbelief he spies a river of blood, corpses, skulls and bones. The bank was nothing but darkness except for the strange pillars rising on both sides running downstream. Large demonic serpents lurked within the dark bank shooting large tongues of flames from their noses. The strange fleshy object that he had ascended upon was a corpse. His stomach churned before he threw up. It was then that he had realized the lovely serene green hill had disappeared.
Something slashed across his back as he swam through the river of death. He turned to see what had slashed him. He thought that one of the serpents had struck him while he wasn’t looking but what he saw was even stranger. Atop the pillars were strange muscular men wearing black masks each equipped with large whips with sharp knife like objects at the ends of the rope. They began to crack their whips shouting odd words at him, causing the snake like creatures to enter a frenzy of fang and fire. Frightened he started to swim and claw his way through the dead bodies faster than he had before. The masked maniacal men launched an attack upon him with their razor sharp whips.
Back bleeding, burns all over his arms and still being lashed by whips and stricken by serpents. He continued through the nightmarish river thinking of the angel, the goddess that awaited for his return home. He closed his eyes and imagined her beautiful hazel eyes, her dark hair, her pearl-like smile, her lovely lips and her mesmerizing voice calling him telling him to hurry home. He wishes for nothing more than to be in her presence, her embrace. The feeling of swimming disappears, the smell of rotting corpse, smoke, and blood, gone.
He opens his eyes to find he is no longer in that hellish place but at the foot of the rolling green hill with the lonely tree atop. Under the tree he catches a glimpse of her, his angel, his goddess sitting there reading a book. He takes a step forward and her cloths change from the colourful summer dress she was wearing into a wedding gown. She’s standing now in front of a small crowd next to a man, it is a beautiful wedding and they look happy. Not wanting to disturb the happy couple he turns around only to see the river of blood once again. He walks into it, the darkness, the blood, the pain.
