So...about a year ago, I took the spontaneous chance to participate in a speedpaint battle. I had planned on doing this in, like, three years or so, when I thought to be more confident in my painting skills and had actually used the program provided for the battle.
But stuff happened and so I did it completly unprepared.
Live in front of people.
It was terryfing.
And I really, really suprised myself with how much I could do despite these unfavorable circumstances.
This battle is happening again, this weekend, and I'll be there. I've grown a lot over the past year and I practiced specifically for this and...
I'm still terryfied.
Anxiety doesn't...stop. It's nothing rational you can just stop being. But there are ways to live with it. Be it through certain coping methods or medication or momentary distractions just to not let anxiety build up so much it stops you from achieving your dreams.
Rambling aside, big thanks to Athume @ https://altehra.deviantart.com/
Go check out his work! He's amazing! And I hope to painterly kick his butt this weekend!
(also, if by any chance, you're at Pixel Vienna: send me a note, I'd love to meet you!)
