Shadow sat slumped against the tree as something white and glowing leaked from a hole in the middle of his chest. It was his blood but something was very wrong. The wound should have healed by now...
Unless...
He dug into the wound with his clawed fingers until they ran into a hard object that wasn't bone. He pulled it out with his claws and held it up to his face so he could examine it with his failing eyesight. It was covered in his blood but it didn't stay that way. It evaporated off of it, turning into a white mist which quickly disappeared. It was metallic and had the same effect on his claws as it had on his blood. Where his claws touched the metal, there were thin streams of black smoke rising from them. These clues left the material's identity unmistakable. It was silver and one of the few substances that could harm him.
He let his hand fall to the ground and the lump of silver fell from his fingers. Without it, wound finally began to heal but it was already too late. The silver had been a bullet and it had just barely pierced his heart. If he gotten out earlier, he might have been able to survive it. But now? Now it was too late and he was dying. His sight grew dim as he felt himself fade from the world.
"Figures....centuries of being careful...of being good...and I get killed.... over a simple....misunderstanding....." he mumbled to him self as his eyes fluttered close.
