“Shore!” The Manager called.
“Yes!” Shore pulled herself up from behind her desk, her hair a mess, she rubbed her eyes and yawned.
“Ya got tour guide duties today! Joe off sick.” Shore’s eyes went wide at the manager’s words, Joe was in charge of tours scheduled through the lagoon!
“No, uh-uh, no-can-do!” Shore waved the manager off and fell backwards, her pillow taking the impact.
“No get’n away that easy! Why just cause ya the mayor’s daughter don’t go an’ give ya the luxury to sleep behind your desk! Now scram!”
“But…” like a spring she bolted upright, sitting cross-legged, Shore pleaded…
“I can’t! I’m forbidden form going to the Lagoon!” Her puppy eyes shimmered with fake tears that didn’t faze the manager at all.
“Ya father can’t scold ya from doing a job! Besides there not’n to fear!” Manager turned and walked away, before Shore could protest more. The girl biting down on her lip…
“I guess will have to get ready to face those demons…”
“What demons?” Agatha asked.
“Why couldn’t you get back from your break sooner? The manager has me handling Joe’s tours!” Shore ignored the question and continued to complain as she packed her few things to leave.
“Come on the guest can’t be that horrible?” Agatha’s sweet nature kicked in, always trying to see the positive side of everything!
“I mean you are getting out from behind your ‘boring’ desk job.”
“True, but still… I’ll need some curse and hex anti magic if want to survive this… Maybe a soul or two…” Shore started mumbling to herself, Hearing the girl talk like the ‘guest’ were actual demons out to kill her was amusing, and Agatha couldn’t help but smirk.
“This isn’t funny Agatha! I’m being serious… Those demons are the worst…” Shore kept up the serious tone, her face pulled in searing anger; not at Agatha, but at her task.
“Maybe I can just go hide in ladies’ room?”
“That won’t work! At the end of the day you fear losing your work more than any ‘demons’ you might face.” Agatha grinned, holding back an infectious laugh.
