Enkigann slid backwards, shards of his final sword scattering about. It looked up, Osuushigann confidently trotting towards him, steam bellowing from its snout.
"You were a fool to think you could really take me on, much less defeat me you has been!" Grepearl mocked as Enki started standing up, throwing the hilt to the side.
"I never thought that I could take you on." Viral answered, balling his fist. " I was only buying Inoichi time. An untrained warrior taken to battle only leads to death. I gave her time to collect herself, calm herself down." He assumed a defensive stance. "Besides, my body is immortal, so even if my Enkigann is damaged, I can still live on!"
"Sure you do!" Osuushigann lowered his head, preparing another charge. "Let's see how that body of yours holds up when you have my horns through you!" He charged forward, a thick cloud of brown smoke picking up behind him, all four limbs on the ground, increasing speed like a mad bull, drawing closer and closer to Enki, Grepearl laughing maniacally.
"Not today!" I shouted with rage, my fist colliding with Osuushigann's face, metal creaking against metal. Osuushigann was launched to the side, slamming right through a few buildings before finally skidding to a stop. crashing through another structure. I shook the paint off my hand, hurrying over to Enkigann, opening up the communication call with Viral.
"Nice to see you could finally show up." He stated with a smile, wiping a stream of blood off his forehead.
"Nice to see that you're still alive." I replied. "Just barely though. You're out of weapons. Good thing I came along huh? Where's Yoko?"
"She's helping citizens evacuate from the surrounding area." He pointed up towards the enemy's ship. "Then she's going after that thing, seeing if she can bring it down from the inside."
"She's going after their ship? That's insane!"
"Not as insane as me helping her after this. As you can see, I am in dire need of replacements" We turned our heads towards the low rumbling to the far right of us. From the debris rose Osuushigann, one of its horns cracked horrible, its eyes rose red.
"You know, I didn't have anything to be doubtful of when I first got here," Grepearl started, Osuushigann stretching out its steel limbs. "I thought this was going to be a walk in the park, a stroll even! I was even considering letting you live, maybe even taking you home as a pet! But after a punch like that, you're gonna be maggot meat!"
"Those are big words coming from a guy inside of a giant metal version of himself." I rebutted. "Of course, that's probably the only thing you're gonna be inside of anytime soon!"
Grepearl laughed, Osuushigann's horns glowing a bright orange before becoming engulfed in long tongues of fire. It pawed the ground, large piles of stone being kicked up behind it.
"Not to burst your happiness bubble here," Sylvia popped up on the call, "but if you haven't already noticed, Sir Rams-a-lot is about to impale us!"
"I know that. Viral, get outta here. Go help Yoko." I tightened my grip around the handles. "I can handle this."
Viral nodded before disappearing, Enkigann jumping off into the distance. I dug my heels into the ground, ready to protect myself. I could feel it, the energy passing through my Gunman, back to me, our beings becoming one.
Sylvia grabbed hold of her handles, looking beyond scared. "Are you sure we're ready for this? I don't even know what I'm doing!"
"Just make it up as you go, because we don't have time to think!"
"Blazing Charge!" Grepearl charged towards us, a streak of red flames being left in his wake, the ground shaking with every mechanical hoof that hit the ground. I stood my ground, horns ready to catch him. Sure enough, he was only feet away from me before my instincts kicked in, causing me to grab the horns between my palms, waves of heat soaring off the metal interior. I released my grip, slamming my head against his, face to face with the bastard. He scowled at me, his vibrant red eyes piercing through my being, metal grinding against metal as he pushed against me, trying to make me yield.
"Congrats Grepearl!" I taunted. "Thanks to you've I've worked up an appetite, and I've a real craving for steak for dinner tonight!"
"Ha! You think you can intimidate me?!" He went in for a punch, me quickly grabbing it, holding it back with all my strength. "I'll ram you into the ground!"
"From what I've seen so far, that's just bullshit!"I laughed as I pushed him back, trenches in the ground being formed from his feet. Twin drills emerged from the sides of my fist spinning rapidly with an excited whirl. I charged at him, Grepearl charging at me, fist hungry for pain. Our arms grind against each other as we cross countered, our fist against each other's face. I held onto my handles, pushing more and more energy into my Gunman, trying to turn my face towards him, trying to force his fist out of the way. He kept pushing his advance, forcing me back more and more, my footing slowly starting to slip.
There was only one way I was going to get the advantage.
I uncurled my hand, reaching up slowly, wrapping my fingers around his cracked horn. I pulled down, the cracks growing larger and larger, a sharp snapping roaring louder and louder before eventually the horn broke off, flying into the air. I ducked down, delivering a swift kick into Osuushigann's torso, sending him backwards as I reached up, grabbing the horn, a smile blooming across my being. Osuushigann caught his footing, stomping against the ground, reaching up to where his right horn used to be.
"You broke it!" Grepearl whined. "A Gunmen of perfection and you snapped off its horn!"
"Oh please," Sylvia mocked, "I've seen pencil sharpeners that are closer to perfection than you!"
"For once, I agree with her." I threw the horn up and down, repeatedly catching it. "Funny. You have both horns and you think you're on top of the world. Yet, once you lose one, you're nothing more than a whining calf who's lost its mother."
"Rah! I've had enough of your and your shit! I was sent here to eradicate the humans, wipe the land clean so that we Dark Spirals may rule, so that we may change the world to meet our standards! For it to fulfill our expectations! Our vision for what an absolute rule should be!" A torrent of steam blew out of his nostrils, a flash erupting from his eyes is eyes, madness spreading over him in a blaze of glory. "You've just earned yourself a one way ticket to Oblivion human!"
"Damn. You make human sound like an insult." I played with his horn some more, laughing a bit. I have to admit, I was having fun. I mean, probably shouldn't, seeing that this fight means either life or death for the one of us. Of course, I was gonna be the one to leave alive.
"That's because it is an insult human." He chuckled, Osuushigann folding its arms. "Why be a human when you can be a Beastmen? We're the point of perfection, able to take any attack head on and leave without a scratch!"
"Yet here you are missing a horn." I corrected him, throwing the horn off to the side.
He slammed all four limbs against the ground, creating small craters around each hand and hoof. Osuushigann started to glow a light purple, the light slowly covering him like a blanket as he started to roar. The light engulfed him, forming a shell around Osuushigann's being, the only things pushing through being its red eyes.
"Congrats human!" He shouted, a whirlwind of steam bursting out of the nostrils. "I never knew I would have to pull out one of my special attacks on you!"
"Special what now?"
"Never in my thirty years of existence have I ever had to resort to the power of Spiral Energy. But you, you have something special, something that I must destroy! Feast your eyes on Osuushigann: Mad Bull!" Osuushigann bellowed at these words, raising its head high into the hair, trying to look intimidating. The energy wrapped around his remaining horn, extending it to almost twice its original length, resembling a lance of some sort. Osuushigann lowed its head, charging at me, hitting me with full force, flipping me over it. I crashed head first, tumbling against the ground, going round and round before eventually slamming into a pile of what used to be a building. I tried to sit up, but Osuushigann plowed its hoof into my head, repeatedly bouncing me up and down, like a sick game of ping pong. I ricocheted back and forth in the cockpit, doing my best to hold onto the handles, trying to get myself back up to fight. The mechanical bull kicked my over onto my back, holding me down with its massive hand. The sunlight cast a shadow over Osuushigann's face, Grepearl laughing demonically on the inside. The light was dying around me, the spiral on the control panel slowly depleting, receding back towards the center. I pulled back and forth on the handles. Nothing happened.
"You had spunk. Lots of spunk." Grepearl stated, Osuushigann tilting its head for the finishing blow. I made another attempt at the controls, receiving the same result as before. Another laugh rang out as I tried them one more time, fighting till the last second! I was running out of time!
In one swift blow, Grepearl brought down the horn. I closed my eyes, waiting for the worst, holding my head up high so that I may die with what little dignity I had left.
Yet, the horn never came. I waited for what felt like seconds, minutes even before opening my eyes. To my surprise, the horn was only inches away from my face, the very tip having already pushed through the canopy. I looked around it, seeing Gurren Lagann hold the horn back with both of his hands. But how? How was this possible?
"I told you assholes already!" I heard a furious voice cry out. From the sheer whine within it, I know it was my second in command Sylvia.
"Told us what bitch?!" Grepearl shouted back.
Sylvia's face popped up on the communication screen, her pearly whites bared, her eyes filled with determination. "I'm the only one who's kicking this bitch's ass! I'm handing it to her on a silver platter, and I'm not gonna let no overgrown farm animal do it for me!" Gurren Lagann's left hand reached down towards his chest, his fingers gripping onto the gigantic pair of black sunglasses. I watched in amazement as he pulled them off with what looked like little effort, grabbing onto the tip, holding it as if it was some sort of blade. My control panel began to light up again, the spiral filling up more and more until the whole space was full of nothing but neon green light.
"You think you're the only one who can pull off some kind of special attack?" Sylvia question, pulling the sunglasses back. "Well then, try this on for size! Sylvia Slice!" She brought it down, a deep diagonal cut forming in Osuushigann's chest as he was sent back. I saw Grepearl inside, looking both surprised and angered. I grabbed hold of the handles again, helping Gurren Lagann stand up. Sylvia smiled at me, the smile quickly fading as she put the sunglasses back into place.
Osuushigann stood back up. I could see a single line of blood going down Grepearl's face, over his eye and into his mouth. I folded my arms, smiling in satisfaction.
"Cheap shot!" Grepearl shouted, Osuushigann pointing at us. "That was a cheap shot!"
"Ha! You fool!' I answered him. "There are no cheap shots in a battle! There are only hit and misses!" We both turned our heads towards the blaring alarms in the distance. The source was Grepearl's ship, bright red lights flashing off of it as an explosion was heard, a cloud of black smoke floating up from the deck.
"My ship!" Grepearl shouted, his eyes wide, his mouth hanging open.
"Correction." I pointed towards the ship. "That's our ship now!"
"Your shi-What are you? Who are you?"
"Who are we? Who are we?" Sylvia repeated. "We're your worst nightmare! We are the pinnacle of perfection! The creators of the world around us!"
"We are the ones who make the paths from the past towards the future, the ones who never back down from a fight!" I added.
"We are the beginning, middle, and the climax of all of creation! We are the bad ass mother fuckers who never stand down! We fight till the very end!"
"We are humans, beings of endless possibilities that will not, nor ever fear the likes of you!"
"Inoichi! Sylvia!" Yoko popped up on the communication call. "We've have control of the ship! The Dai-Gurren is ours!"
"Dai-Gurren?" I asked her.
"Back during my first run through, Simon and Kamina named the ship Dai-Gurren. Therefore, I have named it that again in their honor!"
"This is why I want to eradicate all of you weaklings!" Grepearl interrupted us, catching my attention again. "You're nothing but trash! Rubbish! A pure waste of space and time!"
I readjusted my goggles, gripping hard on the handles. "What did you just call me?"
He grinned slightly. "You. Are. A. Waste."
I pointed at him, taking a deep breath. "I am not a waste. We are not a waste. No one in this city is a waste!" I felt a warm rush over me, the spiral changing to a darker green color, power coursing through me. "My name is Inoichi The Scavenger, and I shall be addressed as Inoichi the Scavenger! Just who the hell do you think I am?"
At those words, Gurren Lagann's right arm became engulfed in a dark green light, a spiral of energy forming over it. Faster and faster it spun, metal forming around its arm. After a solid minute, the light faded, revealing a hard iron drill underneath it. I stared at it in amazement, a smile growing across my face.
"This feels...somehow familiar." I stated.
That's because it is. A voice answered in my head. This drill was the very drill I ended the Anti-Spirals with. This drill is the drill that will forge a new future for both you and your comrades. This is the Giga Drill.
"Giga Drill. I like the sound of that!" I gritted my teeth as I tightened my grip, preparing to strike.
"No! I won't let you do this to me! I've worked too hard to get here!" Grepearl cracked his neck, Osuushigann doing the same, pulling its fist back, running towards up faster than before. I didn't have time to react, but luckily Sylvia did, who pulled back the foot, kicking Osuushigann straight into the air. The drill started to spin, the wind picking us up more and more, slowly starting to lift me into the air. The faster the drill spun, the more wind gathered up. Pretty soon, we were flying towards Osuushigann, who was kept afloat by the tornado we formed.
"Try taking a bite of this!" I shouted, shoving the drill towards him. Osuushigann grabbed the very tip, halting the drills spin. The wind around us started to die down, us slowly falling.
"You call that an attack?!" Grepearl mocked. "Ha! As soon as we hit the ground, I'm impaling you both!"
