A dark wave of blackness sweeps over me and I’m frozen with fear. The pups! I gasp and a wave of water slides into my mouth. I will not get out of this den without the pups. I swim with all of my strength ignoring my plea for breath and finally feel the little bodies of two pups and my mate but then I desperately realize that the alpha of my litter, barley is missing!
As the other wolfs shuffle through the dark water I swim with all my might looking for barley then finally I feel a body and at the first touch of the body to my nose I know two things first that the body is barley and second that barley is dead.
I wake up truly horrified. “It's just a dream, it's just a dream” I mutter to myself. Then I look around me, everything's the same as it was, it was all just a dream and I snuggle back in as the warmth surrounds me as my pups snuggle close to my chest to hide from the cold darkness. I can’t sleep, I have a strange feeling but I just can’t put my paw on it. It's just like one of those nights when you don’t remember when you fell asleep.
As the morning light slowly creeps into the den my eyes slowly flutter open.
“Wake up” I whisper to my pups “already?” Frisk, the runt of my litter asks. “All healthy wolves wake up early” I say. Frisk nudges Barley’s dark grey fur awake “Wake up already!” Frisk yelpes. Barley yawns and slowly opens his eyes. Frisk then nudges River awake. I turn and look to Bramble, my mate and nudge him awake.
Two weeks ago was one of the scariest experiences of my life:
Birth. I had been expecting it for weeks and then when it finally came I was so overjoyed I was blessed with the gift of 3 pups. The first pup was an alpha I named barley. And then I received the second blessing of life, a pup that my mate named River. And my third little blessing (the runt of our litter) me and Bramble named Frisk.
When Frisk was born the first thing I noticed was he was blind. But he’s never let that stop him from getting into all sorts of mischief with the other pups. Bramble is a different story, he has no memory of his parents or pup hood all, that's left of his memory is a vague memory of a snowstorm. I met him on a hunting mission. I saw his dark figure around moaning for help i. (It was very cold out). He was about the same age as me. Before my mother could stop me I ran to him to see who he was. I was stunned when I saw him. he looked very cold and he was twisting on a iceberg. I ran over to him and pulled him on to land. He was sick and he claimed to have no memories. I felt bad for him and begged my mother to let us help. she just said “sure.” and stared thoughtfully into space like she was thinking really hard.
“I’m going hunting” Bramble says. “Monarch, can you watch the pups?” “Sure thing Bramble” I say. “Dad we wanna go” River squeals. “I’m real good at hunting” Frisk squeals. “ I’m waaaay better” Barely squeaks. “No I’m better” River yelps. He sneaks out while the pups argue.
Future Maya Comments/ Edits-
Before I get into talking about this episode, I am gonna quickly let you know what is going on. Just incase it is difficult.
Basically the prologue was one of her pups dream, not hers. The intro of this is another dream about the same thing, just dreamt by the mother. Then the rest of it is just me buying time so it wouldn't be too short of a chapter.
Anyway, to the critic!
I swim with all of my strength ignoring my plea for breath and finally feel the little bodies of two pups and my mate but then I desperately realize that the alpha of my litter, barley is missing!
Let's play a game, this is good practice for you if you are learning to edit writing!
Try to point out and correct as many mistakes with this sentence as possible! Take a screen shot of your results and show it to me in the comments! If you win I will reward you with bragging rights.
Here is my edit-
I swim with all of my strength (insert comma) ignoring my plea for breath (insert period) and (delete and) finally (insert "I") feel the little (your pups are little but your mate is NOT little) bodies of two pups (I say 2 pups as if they are just random wolf puppies that I have never met before) and my mate (insert period) but (don't say but it just doesn't feel smooth in that sentence, "uahugh") then I desperately realize that the alpha of my litter, barley (capitalize barley) is missing!
8 mistakes so far that I have found! And thats just grammar mistakes. It makes me shiver with fear. Thinking about how many other types of mistakes I didn't include in this.
Anyway I think I'm being a wee bit too talkative today!
bye guys!
