For the readers who aren't familiar with programming, a source code is a string of codes that build up a programme, as Lea said. Just think of it as the parts that make up a machine.
These stuffs are pretty much the everything of a programme. If you edit a part of it, the programme might malfunction, or run in a different way. For instance, if a programme is made to calculate the sum of two inputted numbers, you can tweak it to calculate the subtraction instead. Pretty neat, huh?
It all started from a harmless experiment.
