"I'm not going to make you do everything I do but that means you might have to sit around and wait for a bit, is that ok?" The boy asks, leaning his head towards me as he speaks but never removing his eyes from the road.
I shrug, feeling completely giddy in the passenger seat while trying my best to play it off. "That's fine. I'll bug the hell out of you as I wait."
"You'll bug the hell out of me the whole time, Noah."
I chuckle and nod, at least he’s acting like normal. "True. Anyways, what gym are we going to?"
"Comet Fitness. You'll probably like it there. People are pretty friendly."
"Have you always gone there?"
Gavin shakes his head. "Nah, I found it when I was looking for a better place. They have a sauna."
I roll my eyes. "Leave it to you to find a gym with a sauna. How stuck up you are about your appearance."
Gavin glares at me from the corner of his eye and asks, "What was that, Noah? You want out now?"
"You look hot today, babe."
"Are you implying I don't look hot every day?"
I laugh and shake my head at the boy who is grinning playfully from ear to ear. However, his grin soon falls when he suddenly slams on the brakes. The screeching of the tires makes my ears ring as my eyes take in the jackass that had run a stop sign. The vehicle whizzes past us, horn blaring though it should be Gavin to be honking at that asshole that nearly caused a crash!
While Gavin flies forward from the brakes to ram his chest into the steering wheel, causing his horn to go off, I barely move thanks to his hand that had shot out in an attempt to keep me in place. My cheeks burn with a blush while my heart practically jumps out of my chest to scream.
Slowly, I bring my gaze from the road to my stomach where Gavin's hand is desperately holding me. Said hand is shaking as it clutches onto my shirt just above my belly button. I pray he can’t somehow feel the goose bumps on my skin beneath the fabric. The grip he has loosens after a few seconds but his hand, as if to check my safety, remains on my stomach, feeling the warmth beneath it that I hope he thinks is due to the near crash.
"Fucking asshole!" Gavin screams out his window at the dumb ass that is already far away. Gavin’s face screams frustration as he lets out a huff before turning his attention back to me. Grumbling, the boy asks, "You ok, Noah?"
"Y-Yeah," I reply with a nod, eyes glued on his hand that has now moved from my stomach to my thigh, seeming to be without his knowledge. Shit, I would have preferred it remain on my stomach. Thighs are just...a purely sexual place, for him to touch my thigh is...fuck. Would it be weird to ask him to move it? Should I pretend I don’t notice or care? Damn, it shouldn’t be bothering me this much.
"O-Oh!" Gavin suddenly shouts, removing his hand from my leg with lightning speed. I feel myself let out a sigh of relief. "Sorry about that."
Finally, I allow myself to take in Gavin, who is...also blushing. Why is he blushing? His blushing is worsening mine. Gavin doesn't blush, especially over something so simple. I’ve never seen him embarrassed or even bat an eyelash while flirting but right now he’s actually bashful. Though it is nowhere near as obvious as my own, the pink tint beneath his eyes is there.
Smiling, Gavin rubs sheepishly at the back of his neck as he says, "Ah, you must have felt like a girlfriend or something."
"Yeah...a bit," I lie with a chuckle. I honestly didn't think of it like that, rather I felt warm. He doesn't need to know that though and I rather not admit it to myself anymore either. I try to bury the feeling in the back of my mind and pray that it doesn’t find a way out.
"Sorry, it was just kind of an automatic reaction."
"Because you are so used to having women in your car, right?" I tease; hoping that returning to our normal teasing will help my racing heart. I sigh in relief when it works. Gavin laughs and playfully ruffles my hair before continuing the drive to the gym. Thankfully, the feeling dwindles down and I’m able to control the blush that eventually disappears.
