The bell above the door jingled as Kato stepped through with Seth at his side. A bunch of big and burly men were seated at different tables around the restaurant. When they entered, the men looked at them in disbelief.
Kato smiled nervously at them, uncomfortable. They only sneered in response. Well okay then... He thought as he turned to the man in front of the menu and the cash register. He was as tall as Seth and had a good line of muscle. He was a dirty blonde man with brown eyes that watched them cautiously. He had a scar on his left eye and a couple others along his arms.
"How may I help you?" The man asked, smiling even though it was strained.
"I'm sorry, are we not supposed to be here?" He asked, making Seth chuckle. He had to ask, he couldn't help it.
"No, no!" The man raised a hand and waved it. "We just don't get new customers often. Please, make yourselves at home. What would you like to order?"
"Oh. Alright." Seth nudged him and he nodded, looking over the menu.
"I heard their eggs are good," Seth muttered in his ear.
"Then let's get that." He replied, smiling and looking back at the man. "Can I get number three please?"
"Of course. Find a seat and we'll bring it out for you." He turned to Seth. "Do you want anything?" When Seth shook his head, he nodded and turned around, walking into the back room.
Seth led him to one of the tables in the center of the room, sitting him down before taking the seat opposite to him. "Finally. It's just us." Seth said, smirking.
Kato blushed and grinned. "Just us." He giggled. "So, Seth, tell me." He looked through the questions in his head. "What's your favorite animal?"
"Cats." He said, tilting his head. "Though, they're nowhere near as cute as you."
He blushed and rolled his eyes. "Cats, huh? Why?"
"Because they're so elegant yet fast and furious." He winked and he giggled. "What about you?"
"My favorite animal?" He had to think about this one. "Whoa. I don't think I have one." His eyes widened as he came up blank. He'd never really thought about it. Whenever he saw an animal, he instantly adored it. He couldn't remember ever thinking one was better than the others.
Seth burst out laughing, causing glares from the other customers who were visibly staring at them. Trying to bring it lower, he leaned forward. "Seriously? Can't even think of one you favor?"
He shook his head, totally shocked with himself. "Weird right?"
"Nah, that's beyond adorable." He laughed again. "My turn to ask a question."
"Bring it," Kato said, smirking.
"What's your favorite food?" He asked, looking over as the guy brought out food to one of the customers.
"Food?" He tilted his head as he thought. "Shepards Pie." He nodded. "Yeah, definitely. One of the few times I could actually eat my own food, I made something called Shepards Pie that I found in a recipe book and it was probably some of the best food I've had."
Seth blinked and grinned. "You are totally going to make that for me someday."
"I wouldn't mind." He giggled and leaned back as the man came over and set the food in front of him. "Thank you." He said and the man looked at him curiously before giving a hateful look in Seth's direction and leaving. "Seriously. I don't think we're supposed to be here. They keep giving us weird looks."
Seth only chuckled and waved them off. "My guess is that they're confused as to why two good-looking people walked in from a nice car that's still parked out front."
"Oh. Well, that's true." He nodded and smiled. "I would be too."
Seth laughed. "See? Now take a bite and tell me what you think." He leaned forward. He eventually got used to Seth's tail and horns. He even forgot they were there sometimes.
"Alright." He cut a piece of egg off the corner with the edge of his fork and took a bite, letting the seasons fill his mouth. Grinning, he nodded and swallowed. "Delicious! Just like you said."
"Great. Now gimme a bite." He opened his mouth and Kato giggled, cutting off a piece with his fork and giving the bite to him. Leaning back and chewing, Seth smirked. "You're right. It's great. Human food has definitely evolved for the better."
Kato giggled and took another bite. His stomach was really enjoying this. "What about you? Do you have a favorite food?" He picked up a piece of sausage and popped it into his mouth.
Seth tilted his head. "So far, it would be this." He laughed. "I've never been interested in human food until I met you. I remember having some because of my sister about fifty years ago but it was pretty... bland." He wrinkled his nose, making Kato laugh.
"I see." Smiling, he continued to eat as he thought. "What's your favorite time of year?"
"Fall." He replied, grinning. "'Cause that's where Halloween comes into play. Since the holiday began, I enjoyed going up and looking at what people came up with. It's interesting."
"Really?" He smiled. "That's sweet."
Seth smiled back.
Kato turned to look around and furrowed his eyes when he saw his vision blur. Turning back to Seth, he tilted his head. "I..." He muttered, blinking rapidly.
"Hm? Kato?" Seth frowned and slowly began to stand. "Are you okay?"
He opened his mouth to say something but no words formed. When he tried to stand, he ended up tilting and falling to the ground where he laid dazed as Seth shot up, his chair falling backward onto the floor and ran over to Kato.
"Hey now. Don't fall asleep. What's going on?" He muttered harshly as he cupped his cheek.
Multiple forms surrounded them. It was the customers. "Looks like the kid was human after all." One of them said.
"Step aside." Another one. It was the man from the counter.
He watched as Seth drew his sword and hovered protectively over Kato. "If you so much as lay a finger on him, I'll burn you to ashes." He hissed and the men jumped back.
Kato slowly closed his eyes, the voices dimming and his mind going blank. He hated this feeling. Being unable to move his body when he really wanted to. He hated it to his core.

Seth looked down at Kato who now lay passed out on the ground. "What did you do?" He snapped out, putting his body over his lover's so he wouldn't get hurt.
"We drugged him." The man said, rolling his eyes. "Don't worry. We don't hurt humans. We're demon hunters." Smirking, the man jerked his chin in his direction and multiple guys stepped forward. "We'll ask him questions but we won't harm him."
Seth waved his sword and they stepped back again. "Listen. I'll comply but only if I stay with my lover." He said, his arm going down to scoop up his limp body. "He's everything to me and I won't let him out of my sight."
The man raised an eyebrow. "You fell in love with a human male? That's even more interesting." The man debated on it. "Fine. Follow me. Try anything and we'll douse you with holy water."
Seth nodded, quickly looking over at the window and hoping that his sister and Henry would realize something was wrong and would come to get them eventually.
Putting his sword away with a warning glance, he scooped Kato into his arms bridal style and held him close. He looked down at his troubled face with sadness. This was not how he wanted their date to go.
As the man walked over to the stairs, he followed behind, the other guys close on his heels. "The sign outside." Seth started, hearing the warning grunt of someone behind him but ignoring it. "It really meant Demon Hunter didn't it?"
"Yes, it did. It was a signal to demon hunters so they could stop here." He said, amusement in his tone. "But you were stupid enough to walk right in. I have to say it's a first."
Seth rolled his eyes. "That's because I don't eat but he does." He said. "We were on a date, you know. It's pretty rude to ruin a romantic day for somebody."
The man laughed. "Romantic? Since when do demons have emotions?"
That made him angry. "Are you saying my love for him is fake?" He snapped and something sharp poked into his back but he ignored it again. "I'm sorry if you hate us, but don't hate him. He was enjoying himself. You have no idea what this kid's been through and I want him happy. But here you are ruining his moment of sunshine."
The man snorted. "Whatever you say, demon." He opened a door and walked in and he followed. "Why are you with a human when you know he'll grow up and die and then you'll die too?"
"One, because it doesn't matter if he dies. I don't want to live without him. And two, because he might be immortal like me." He said confidently before realizing what he said was a mistake.
The man turned around, gesturing to the couch with a raised eyebrow. "You can put him there." He muttered. "What do you mean he might be immortal? Did you find some way to change humans into demons?" The look on his face said death was approaching.
Seth rolled his eyes as he walked over and laid Kato down on the couch, sitting on the edge beside him. "You know as well as I do that that is impossible. I've lived over a hundred years and I'm still not sure where you humans came up with such a theory."
"Alright." The man sat in a chair behind a large desk. The room took up the entire second floor and different weapons and books lined the walls. "Then tell me what you meant or the both of you will die." He smirked, raising an eyebrow.
Seth sighed, knowing there wasn't any way to get out of it. "He's a half human, half demon child." He muttered and the man's eyes went wide. Gasps sounded from all around and he hovered over Kato protectively again.
"That's impossible, you do know that right?" The man rolled his eyes. "He should be dead already if that were the case." If only he knew who his father was, he thought to himself.
"I'm not lying. But you don't have to believe me." Seth spat out. "Now what do you want?"
"We heard an interesting rumor floating around that something happened to the Demon King." The man leaned forward. "Is he sick? Or kidnapped probably?"
Seth stiffened. Well, he'd know eventually anyway. "He died several days ago." Another gasp.
The man froze. "What?" He whispered.
"You heard me. He died. An angel purified him." Seth said. He gazed sadly down at Kato who twitched. He's beginning to wake up, he thought with hope. "He couldn't fight it off this time."
"There's no way..." He leaned back, looking up at the ceiling. "I was supposed to be the one to kill him dammit!" He slammed his hand down on the table. "He'll pay for taking her away!"
"Who?" Seth asked in confusion. He didn't remember the King having taken anyone away.
"It isn't important, demon." He spat.
"Seth..." Kato murmured and he looked down to see his eyes slowly opening. The blue eyes he loved.
"I'm right here," Seth whispered, holding his hand. "Good morning, Kitty."
