I feel u, When I was 8-10, When I give to my mother something in her brithday or mother's day she asked me about the ticket the next day she went and change the gift because "I have horrible tastelessness", once of that times I give her the t-shirt she said but she did it again, and she scream "This isn't that I wanted"
