“What the hell, Casey!” Symco shouted, “We needed him alive for questioning!”
“Whoa, who's your friend, Alicia.” Casey said indignantly, “I don't think I like his tone!”
“I'm sorry,” said Hodge, confused, “But who the heck are you?”
“Nice. I know we didn't end on great terms, but I thought you would at least acknowledge my existence.” Casey said.
“You've been gone for five years!” Symco exclaimed. “Where have you even been?”
“Ok, back off, Jolly Green Giant!” She said, “Seriously, Ally, Where'd you find this guy? Are you two some kind of item?”
“Casey” said Symco, “There's something you need to know.” Symco explained the whole situation, how they were in an accident and how their consciousness was swapped. Casey stood there, mouth agape. Her green eyes began to tear up as she stared at Symco's now massive form.
“Can you reverse it?” She asked.
“That's what we were hoping to find out from that guy before you offed him.” Said Hodge, annoyed that he now apparently had two Symco's to deal with.
“I don't get it, I counted at least six vamps when I was staking the place out” said Casey, “Are you telling me you decapitated all of them?”
“No,” said Symco, “most of them are in torpor, but it's going to take a lot of blood to get them back to the place where we can interrogate them.” Symco paused for a moment, trying to sort out the rush of emotions she was going through at the sight of her sister after five long years. “Where have you been?”
“Hunting. Vampires mostly. I joined an elite group of hunters, we've been stalking this lot for weeks.” Casey explained.
“Did you guys hear about the ritual?” Asked Hodge.
“We heard about it but thought it was just a rumor. We couldn't find any solid evidence it was going down. Whatever they were up to they kept it under wraps.” There was an awkward silence as no one knew precisely what to say. There was so much to think about and they all looked sort of stunned.
“So, what do we do now?” Hodge broke the silence.
“We grab the corpses inside and take them back to base for a blood transfusion and an interrogation.” Said Symco. “Casey, you coming?”
“I'll help you get sorted out” she said “But I'm not coming with you guys back to Ghostbusters HQ. There's more work that needs to be done out here.” Hodge signaled via radio that they were ready for extraction and almost immediately you could hear helicopter propellers in the distance. They all slowly walked back to the warehouse, still in a bit of shock over everything that happened. Hodge and Casey walked through the door, Symco slipped around the side again as she was too big for the door. As she came around the corner she saw Hodge and Casey both freaking out with fire extinguishers in hand dousing the burning corpses of the torpored vampires whose heads were now cut off.
“What the hell!?” She shouted, “Casey, did your people do this?”
“No, my people don't burn and decapitate. We go with one or the other.” She said, “Plus, these weren't just a kill, these corpses are desecrated.” She finished putting out the flames on her vampire and grabbed the lapel of the monster's jacket. The vampire had been wearing all nylon clothing so the heat from the flames essentially welded the fabric to its skin. Casey peeled away the scrap of the shirt that was bonded to the melted flesh to reveal a glyph burned into the vampires flesh. There was a rotten stench in the air; a mixture of decay and burnt hair and skin. They all held their noses as they looked at the mysterious branded glyph.
“That's witchcraft” Hodge said, dousing the last flames on the vampire closest to him.
“Dammit!” Yelled Symco. “This was our best lead, and now it's all gone!” The sound of the helicopters was getting closer.
“Let's get these bodies back to the lab so they can analyze these glyphs.” Hodge said, trying to stay cool. In his mind, however, he was freaking out. He was so angry and scared that they blew their one chance that he wanted to flip tables and break things. He clenched his now tiny fist and fought back a tear, which was harder to do given the hormonal imbalance he was experiencing as a result of the body swap. The helicopter landed outside the warehouse and the PPD team started loading in the remaining corpses. Symco turned to speak to Casey, but she was gone. She had snuck out while the copter was landing and Symco and Hodge were distracted. Symco let out a quiet sob. She was relieved to have seen her sister, but didn't know when the next time she would see her. With everything else that had happened that night it was too much for her. Tears started falling down her misshapen cheeks and wet the happy face mask she was wearing. She and Hodge walked towards the Helicopter. Hodge got on and Symco grabbed a hold of it's landing rails after it took off. She was too big to fit inside, but not so heavy that she threw off the equilibrium of the copter. This had been a bad day, and it didn't look like tomorrow was going to get any better. As best as they both knew, they were stuck.
