Chapter 3: Gifts
Simon woke up, Yuelia reading a book, his head slightly dizzy, everything the same.
“Good morning sleepy head,” Yuelia said, looking up from her book.
“What?” Simon said, sitting up.
“I said, good morning,” She said, closing the book.
Simon stood up and walked to the window. The sun was up, almost noon.
What? He thought.
“Yeah, it’s noon. Don’t forget you have to tell your boss what happened,” she said, walking down the stairs.
Simon continued to look out the window. Then he felt a sharp pain in his head again. He fell out the floor and his vision started to blur. He looked up and saw a kid standing there.
“Hello again, Simon,” He said.
His eyes were purple. He had black hair and tanned skin, probably from traveling by the looks of his torn up shoes.
“W-what’s happening?” Simon asked.
“Your new abilities are coming in one by one. This one is enhanced thinking. You’ll be able to notify any and everything about a person or thing within seconds,” Endro said.
Simon’s vision cleared up and he stood up. Endro was gone.
Where did he…? He thought.
He shook it off and walked down the stairs.
“Hurry up! You’ll be late!” Yuelia said.
He looked at her and immediately saw everything about her.
“So you think I’m annoying?” Simon said.
“W-what? No! Of course not!” She said.
“Be honest,” he said.
“... In a way, yes, but not completely…,” she said, hiding her face behind her book.
Simon teleported to the docks, wondering what else he would get. He appeared at the docks, his boss in the same place, looking at a busted crate.
“I’ll tell you everything,” Simon said.
“You better!” Kyle said.
Simon told Kyle the same story, but this time, he could see that Kyle was believing it.
“So I’m guessing that if the amount you said was in here, the girl would be able to destroy Northern Zenith?” Simon asked.
“Yeah. How did you know that?” Kyle asked.
“Lucky guess I suppose,” Simon said.
“Oh… okay,” Kyle said, scratching his head, “You just head home, okay?”
“Okay. Hopefully we find them,” Simon said, teleporting away.
Is this permanent? He thought as he walked through the door to his house.
“You’re home early,” Yuelia said.
“There wasn’t really much to explain,” he said.
“Okay, since you’re here, can you check the energy?” she asked.
“Sure,” he said, teleporting to the shed.
The energy was the same as it was, a month's worth of energy left. He thought if this is one of those times where Endro will magically show up.
“If you’re thinking you’re gonna get a new power each time you think of one, you’re out of luck,” Endro said, teleporting to him.
He was sitting on a toolbox and had a grin on his face.
“I thought you said as much power as I wanted?” Simon said.
“Yes, but not as soon as you snap your fingers. It’s like a daily thing. You think of it, expect it to come the next day,” Endro said.
“Oh…. Okay. Why is that?” Simon asked.
“So you don’t die. Your body can withstand only so much pain. Too much, you die,” Endro said.
“Oh. Do I get unlimited magics or is there a limit?” Simon asked.
“There’s a limit. You can only get magics that actually exists. And some you actually have to learn. I’ll just give you the basics, but that’s it,” Endro said, “There are laws to the universe that you don’t even begin to comprehend. The more power you have, the higher chance of you becoming corrupted.”
Simon was shocked by this. He’s heard of mages becoming corrupted, but a normal person doing so… it seemed unimaginable.
“There’s a cap of 7 magics you can have. You got one this morning, so you have six left,” Endro said.
“Oh… okay,” Simon said, opening the door.
“I would tell that Yuelia girl if I were you,” Endro said as he left.
Simon thought about this as he walked back to the house.
A limit… that’s good. How will she react to this? He thought.
Teebs was on his ship, commanding the wind into the sails.
“He’s gotten stronger…, “ Shards said, walking up deck, “There was a shift in his power.”
“Oh? What’s his new magic?” Teebs said, standing.
“He can read people. Their emotions, thoughts, everything about them,” she said, taking off her hood.
“You’re just now getting around to that?” he said, sarcastically.
“Shush up! It’s comfortable but it’s hot now!” she said.
She had red eyes, like Simon, scarlet hair that stopped at her neck, and a rose pattern tattoo on the right side of her face. Teebs walked over and smiled.
“It’s about time,” he said, hugging her.
“Stop it…,” she said, turning red and pushing away.
“Okay,” He said, raising his hands up and stepping back, “Should we go get him or wait?”
“Uhh…. hard to say… he’s obviously getting help from an outside source,” she said, closing her eyes.
“How about a rough estimate?” he asked, looking at a small map of the surrounding area.
“Uhhh…. Give him….. Three more days. Yeah, three more days until we put the plan into action,” she said, opening her eyes, “Are you sure he’s the one?”
“Now I am. I’ve seen only one kid do what he did, and that’s when I was young. Three days, then we do somethng with the crystals,” he said, looking at the sails, “Avengement will be sweet.”
Shards smiled at that.
“Zenith will learn from its mistake. We will make sure of it,” she said, standing in front of him.
