I give up. Cooper hasn't left me alone after he came to my lunch table, which was about a month ago. I try not to answer him, but he keeps asking questions that I have to answer and he won't call me by my name. It pisses me off so much, but there's only a few days left of the semester and I probably won't see him again. Hopefully. Thank god he hasn't given me his phone number or asked for mine.
I feel a tap on my shoulder and turn around to see Cooper.
"What is it?" I asked in a very harsh tone, which I immediately regret, because now he knows I'm upset and probably won't stop bothering me. I wait and stare at him for a while before he says anything.
"I'm sorry." Cooper said, "I didn't realize that you were in a bad mood."
"Yeah, but what is it?" I asked again.
"Will you go with me?" Cooper asked. I stared at him for another few seconds.
"What?" I asked.
"To this party..." Cooper said, "The person who invited me said to bring some people."
"Why?" I asked.
"Because I want to spend time with you." Cooper said.
"I don't have time for this." I said as I started walking, "I have to get to work... The boss will be so mad if I'm late."
"Can I go with you and explain to your boss why you're late?" Cooper asked. I got to my car.
"No." I said, "I'm at my car now, please go." I looked back at Cooper and he looked like he was about to cry, like I was abandoning him.
"But..." Cooper said, "Hegwoyd! Please!" I sighed. I unlocked my car.
"Get in." I said, "Just don't come into my workplace... Go roam around town or something... I'll be out in about two and a half hours." Cooper smiled and we got into my car. The ride there was okay... Cooper did talk a lot, but it wasn't unbearable. It was almost as if I was used to him.
So I got to work on time and worked for the entire shift. When I got out, there was Cooper sitting on a bench near the car.
"Hey, Hegwor-oyd." Cooper said.
"Okay, Cooper." I said, "Where do you want to go?" Cooper smiled.
"I want to go get ice cream." Cooper said, "And then we can talk about whatever, because I just want to spend time with you."
"You got your point across already." I said, "But I'm not going to a party." Cooper's face went from happy to obviously dejected in a matter of seconds.
"But I promised them that I'd bring you." Cooper said, "I also said that if you don't come I won't either." I frowned.
"What are you, my boyfriend?" I asked, "You should go even if I'm not going. I don't want my decision ruining your chances to be friends with others." Cooper looked at me quizzically.
"Do you want me to be your boyfriend?" Cooper asked, "Because I want to be your boyfriend." I blinked.
"I think you already made that clear, but that's beside the point." I said, "Go to the party! Have a good time! I don't have to be there for you to have a good time!" Cooper looked at the ground for a little while and then looked back up at me.
"Can I be your boyfriend?" Cooper asked. I don't know what hit me but all of a sudden I just started crying. It might have been frustration, but I felt so weird. I walked into the woods by my workplace and hid myself, because I just couldn't stop and I didn't want anyone to see me. "What's wrong, Hegwoyd?" Cooper asked as he tried to calm me down.
"I just want to be left alone." I sobbed. Cooper apparently wasn't listening, because he stayed there until I stopped crying.
"Are you feeling better now?" Cooper asked. I rubbed my eyes.
"Can you drive?" I asked, "I think ice cream is a good idea." Cooper smiled sadly and nodded.
"Sure." Cooper said. I gave Cooper the keys and I told him the way to the nearest ice cream place, which was in the next town over. He paid for the ice cream and I had some sort of cherry, I couldn't remember the name of it, because my eyes were still a little blurry. "I'm sorry for whatever I did." Cooper said as his ice cream dripped onto his hand. I quickly ate my ice cream and got a bad brain freeze, but I shook it off.
"It's fine." I said, "I was overdue for a good cry anyways." Cooper looked at me like I had three heads.
"Okay..." Cooper said, "I just feel bad now."
"And I'm sorry." I said, "I'll be your boyfriend if you want me to be." Cooper dropped his ice cream in shock.
"Really?" Cooper asked. I looked down at his ice cream.
"Well, that's a waste of an ice cream..." I said, "But yes, really." Cooper hugged me and got melted ice cream on my jacket.
