Okay, before we start, picture this. You're sitting in front office with four or five of your
closest friends, waiting for the principal because you and
your friends did an incredibly stupid prank. It was way
too quiet, and the only thing you could hear was the
breathing of everyone in the room, the mumblings of the
desk lady reading 50 Shades of Grey, and the air
conditioner, blowing ice cold air, even though it’s already,
like, 67 degrees outside. Of course, there were other kids
in the office too. Most of them are kids you and your
friends have been fighting with over the past couple of
months. Now that you have that image floating around in
your head, you probably already have a good
understanding of the current situation my friends and I
are in right now. I sat between my two “best” friends (The best part’s
going to change in the future), Julie and Lucie. Julie was
over-excitedly chattering to the girl next to her, whose
name I forgotten, about how “Epic and Amazing” this
prank was, and Lucie was crying his eyes out, saying that
his uncles are going to kill him if they found out.
Now, about the kids we dragged into this. All of us
kids have divided ourselves into these teams. How these
teams were formed? I honestly have no clue, but the
teams we dragged into this are Team Cadie and Team
Suzie, our so-called rivals. Team Cadie is this group of goth and emo kids that
hate our guts. I’m not too sure why they hate us, but they
just do, and Team Suzie is this group of petty, rich,
popular kids who hate everyone that's not attractive,
popular, straight, or rich. The atmosphere felt so tense, and hateful. I could feel
myself sweating as both teams gave us death glares. Soon, our principal, Mr Afton stepped out. A tall,
young man with sickly pale skin, and dark brown eyes. His dark hair was gelled back, like usual, as he skimmed
the room with this scowl that made my sweating worse. His expression didn’t only look angry, but he looked
like he was ready to kill all of us with his tiny spoon
collection that he has for some reason. “All of you, in the conference room, now!” he
exclaims, pointing to an open door. I gulped and stood up
with the rest of the other kids.
“Ugh, this is BS,
” Suzie (leader of Team Suzie) utters,
flipping back her blonde hair as we all walked into the
conference room. I gasped, and so did all the other
students as I saw my mom and a whole bunch of other
adults I assume are parents in the room. None of them
looked happy. I took a seat across from dad as Mr. Afton
sat down between Julie and Jessica, Julie’s “second mom”
in a way. “Okay, I would like to know why you guys-” he
pauses to gesture to all us us,
“Thought that faking a
school shooting with nerf guns while playing the song,
‘Pumped up Kicks’ by Foster the People, a SONG about
SCHOOL SHOOTING would be a GOOD IDEA! You guys
SCARED EVERYONE HALF TO DEATH! YOU’RE SO
LUCKY WE DIDN’T GET THE POLICE INVOLVED!” He
yelled. All the parents then begun to angrily chatter
among their children, except my mom. She kinda just
gave me this look, like she was trying really hard not to
burst out laughing. I sigh. At least she doesn’t seem too
angry.
Anyway, about that prank... we did that. Team Julie did that, to clarify.
Julie thought it would be a good prank, and we’ve
been planning it for weeks. I told her this wasn’t a good
idea. I knew we would get in trouble for this, but I didn’t
even try to stop except from me saying “Julie, we
shouldn’t do this, we’ll get suspended, or worse,
EXPELLED!” but she didn’t care. Mr Afton inhaled deeply, as he looked around the
room. His eyes met mine for a split second. “Young ladies and gentlemen. I called your parents
here to discuss your punishment. Since I’m kind enough
to not get the police involved, I also decided not to expel
any of you ” he pauses as all of the students, including
myself took that sweet, sweet breath of relief. “...But!”
I clenched my breath
There's a but! There's a but! I hope this doesn’t go on
my permanent record!
“You all will be having after school detention,
everyday for three months, plus every other week you’ll
be attending school on saturdays! We all came up with
this punishment for you guys, plus it’s a lot better than
being expelled,
” Mr Afton explains, causing all of us
students to groan. See? This is what I get for having irresponsible
friends. Should’ve just ditch them when I had the chance. And people call me a bad person.
