After that whole meeting, we all went back to our usual classes. Since Julie and I have the same math class for 5th period (Don’t ask me how she got into honors math class, I honestly don’t know myself), we walked to the classroom together.
“Julie, you’re going to get us in trouble one day” I uttered. Julie looked at me curiously.
“Why do you say that?” she asks. I roll my eyes.
“You know exactly why,” I snap. She looks at me.
“Well, isn’t that what life is for? Getting in trouble and learning from it?” she asks. I pause, thinking about it. I then shake my head.
“Well yeah, but your not suppose to purposely get yourself into trouble. Trouble just stops you from achieving your dreams!” I explain. She smiles.
“Well, life wouldn’t be fun then,” she states simply.
The rest of our walk to class was quiet. As we entered the classroom, I saw our math teacher, Ms Hayes, writing down some notes on the dry erase board. I took a seat at my desk conveniently placed next to Julie’s.
“Good Afternoon, Ladies and Gentlemen! Today we’ll be having a lesson on-”

In the middle of class, Julie hands me a piece of paper. I look at her. She had the most serious expression anyone could have as she stared at her sketchbook, drawing something. I look back at the paper and unfolded it.
Let’s stop talking about trouble and the future. Let’s talk about the now. Are you taking anyone to the school dance?
I felt my face heat up as I read the message inked in bright pink. I quickly grabbed my pencil and scribbled a response.
I don’t know. I’m probably not even going.
I tossed the paper onto her desk, trying not to get noticed by Ms Hayes. Julie looked up and scribbled onto the paper, tossing it back.
Great to know I’m not the only one without a date :)
-Julie
I rolled my eyes, writing back.
That’s good. No guy should ever go through that kind of pain.
-Lucas.
We soon just started passing notes back and forth.
Real Funny Lucas. I don’t what's more stale, your sense of humor or the bread on that sandwich you gave me at lunch.
-Julie
I hate you
-Lucas.
Not enough to still be talking to me.
-Julie.
The rest of class went by quickly until the bell had finally rung. I sighed and began to pack up my stuff until the teacher mentioned something of a Pep Rally that seemed to get everyone excited.
“Oooh, Pep Rally? Our little Lucie’s going to be there, showing off his mad skills,” Julie smirks, doing pointer fingers. I smiled, and walked out of the classroom, Julie following.
“Wells, we have to get to the gym-”
“Julie, grammar please,” I interrupt. She rolls her eyes, uttering something about a grammar nazi.
