Smooth strokes of my paintbrush built stories that only my heart could put onto paper. I dipped my paintbrush into the green and followed the leaves that blew past as the wind took them away. The grass beneath her swayed and brushed her hand. He face faced the sky with the most angelic face, eyes closed with the most genuine smile. One I wish I could have be directed toward me.
I drew the shadow, behind her. It haunted her every day the sun was out. and then darkness would come and envelope her. She felt so forgotten, so unloved. But at least, if she faced away from her shadow, she could be free. Happy.
Rin stirred slightly in the bed behind me. I looked over at her. That smile... always so happy, at peace, calm. If only I could help her smile like that everyday. I wanted so bad to take away all the bad people. to fill her life with flowers and birds who sang love songs.
But all there every was, was a shadow and the darkness. At least she was as peace when she slept. I set my paint brush down and went to sit next to her. "One day, I will make you so happy that you will forget all about the darkness." I brushed her hair out of her face and behind her ear. "One day."
"Hmm" She sighed in her sleep and rolled over.
I picked up my painting I had just finished and hung it in the living room next to my bookcase. taking a couple steps back, I looked at the little details. He hair loose around her shoulders, her hands caressing the soft grass, and her cheeks so soft and rosy.
"Jill?" I heard Rin say behind me in a sleepy voice.
I turned and welcomed her into a hug. "What are you doing up?"
"I don't know. I guess I just can't sleep." She turned and looked at the painting. She went silent as she looked at it. "Why do you insist on drawing me?"
"To be honest, I can't really think of what else to draw. Do you want me to stop?"
She laughed softly. "Even if I said yes you wouldn't stop. You didn't stop last time I asked you too."
I shrugged and hugged her closer to me. "I still love you."
