After sliding on her blouse Yuna looked down at herself. She had tied her hair in a bun and she was now wearing a school uniform instead of the Yukatas her grandmother had been letting her borrow. Patting out her skirt, Yuna let out a shaky sigh. School....a building full of people her age. She couldn't help but wonder if they were like the two she had met the other day. The man with a painted smile and the woman who wore a mask. Just the memory of them gave Yuna shivers.
Her mind went elsewhere when her grandmother called her down for breakfast. Quickly, Yuna slipped on her socks, before heading down to the dinning hall and sitting down to join her grandmother. Like every morning the two did not say anything. It was a bit awkward but honestly not as awkward as it was with her father before his passing. Bringing the tea to her lips she took small sips. From outside she could hear the birds chirping and it brought ease.
Her eyes narrowed a bit when her mind went back to last night. That man has been haunting her mind ever since she felt his touch. Just the thought of him made her heart race. She wanted to stay away from him but at the same time she longed to be held in his arms. A strange feeling indeed. It was similar to the young man she met yesterday as well. She could tell they weren't human. She was scared of that knowledge but at the same time she felt like she had a connection to them somehow.
No. There was no way Yuna was like those things. She was a human just like her father and grandmother. Placing her tea down she looked up. The kind old lady was sitting there eating slowly. Yuna's shoulders relaxed upon seeing the sweet old thing. She was grateful that she was as kind as she was. Her grandmother noticed Yuna's stares and their eyes met. "Is something the matter?" Yuna smiled softly and shook her head. "No....just thinking." A small huff left the old woman. "You're always "just thinking"." A small chuckle left the girl's lips and the old woman stared in shock. A kind smile formed on her lips at the sound of the child's pure laugh.
"You should hurry and ready yourself for school." Yuna nodded and stood. She picked up her plate and cup and brought them into the kitchen. She placed them in the sink and quickly washed them. After drying her hands she walked towards the door where her new shoes and bag sat. Yuna slipped on her shoes and picked up her bag, looking back she called out, "I'm heading off!"
Yuna stared at the door and sucked in a deep breath before opening the door and forcing her feet to move. She tried her best to hide the fact she was nervous but of course it didn't work. The feeling steeped down into her very core. She walked down the long stairway. She couldn't help but think of what her father would say if he were here and knew about her going to a public school. He'd probably get mad and fight with his mother.
She hopped from the last step and followed the stony path that led into the village. A slight fog clung to the ground and the air was muggy. She wondered if it would rain tonight like it has since she's arrived. Every night has been nothing but rain, not that she minded though. Yuna loved the sound of rain. It brought peace to her troubled mind.
As she walked down the path, she couldn't help but feel as if she was being followed. Someone, something, was watching her, hidden within the shadows. Her skin ran cold, her breath shook and her loose hairs seemed to rise from the thought of something following her. Her pace sped up without her meaning it to. Her instincts were telling her to run, to run as fast as she could. If she didn't, then she would be devoured.
She was now running, and in no time she had entered the village. As soon as she did the feeling went away. She looked behind her and saw nothing. The feeling slowly faded away and Yuna sighed softly. Her hand grasped the pendent tightly and she stood there for a long moment. Once her heart had calmed down she removed her gaze from the dark, foggy path she had just taken. The heels of her shoes clapped against the pathway as her eyes remained on the ground.
Yuna soon arrived to the school and she dared a glance. All around her was life. Life that she hasn't seen since the city. Young people, all around her age, walked towards the big building. They talked to one another, they smiled. Yuna was struck with confusion, where was all this in the lonely village? Where were these people hidden? "Oh! We meet again."
Her glass eyes landed upon the man from yesterday. Handsome as ever, another fake smile plastered onto his face. A mask. "Sou...." Yuna mumbled his name and the fake smile widened. "Ah, you remembered me. That's good," a fake chuckle left his lips. His hand reached out and touched Yuna's head. His hand moved back and forth, petting her. "I'm glad you remembered me," he said in a hushed voice, she almost didn't even hear it, and for a moment the young man seemed to smile for real.
He pulled his hand away as soon as he heard his lover call out to him. "Ah....That's my cue. I hope to see you again, Yuna," He looked at her with a kind expression, an expression that was a little bit more than kind. Yuna couldn't put her finger on it. The tone of his voice, his expressions, the aura around him, none of them matched. It was as if he was hiding his true form, hiding it behind a smile. Yuna felt like she's has seen someone like this before.
She watched him walk away and latched arms with the woman he was with. She smiled lovingly up at him before her gaze went to Yuna. Her body tensed at the girl's gaze. She could feel it from where she stood. She could feel the hate that girl had for Yuna. They hardly knew each other and yet that person already had so much hate towards Yuna. Yuna's gaze quickly went somewhere else and her hand gripped her pendent tightly. Her body trembled slightly.
Her eyes widened when she entered the school. She has never seen a place this big. So many people as well. Her eyes dropped to the paper her grandmother had given her. She called it a scheduled. It had writing and numbers on it. She had noticed that the others were walking down hallways and she decided to follow. As she did so, she noticed numbers along the doors she had walked passed. Her eyes looked back at the paper she had and she made a connection. It took her a while but she made it to the first class she was supposed to go to.
The teacher was a young male, handsome as well. Were all the males in this village handsome? It seemed too far fetched. His hair was tied back and his clothes were nice and formal. He looked down at Yuna's small frame and smiled brightly. "You're the transfer right? Ms. Lovecraft?" She nodded, answering his questions. His smile widens. "Ah, good! I'm Mr. Gray. It's nice to meet you little mouse." Little mouse? Why did he call her that? Yuna stared up at the tall man and Mr. Gray shifted uncomfortably. "You...don't talk much do you?" Yuna said nothing and continued to stare.
Mr. Gray let out a small cough as a loud bell rang, making Yuna jump. Everyone was now sitting down, everyone except Yuna and the teacher. "Alright everyone! I would like to introduce our lovely transfer miss Yuna Lovecraft. Please be nice towards here." The males whistled and the girls scoffed. Yuna's gaze went to the wooden floor as she stood there feeling uncomfortable. "Mr. Gray! Could she sit here," a familiar voice had said. Her gaze lifted and landed on Sou.
Ah, he was in this class as well? Mr. Gray chuckled softly, "You know I can't do that. That seat is already taken Mr. Low." Sou Low? Soul? What a funny sounding name, Yuna thought to herself. The teacher tapped his chin as his eyes scanned the room for an open seat. "Ah, how about in the back next to Cane." She nods and started making her way to the empty seat. She sat down and glanced around. She was alone in the back, well aside from the young man who was sleeping.
Her gaze stuck to him. Black hair and pale skin. His head moved to the side, his eyes opened. He had a lovely face, even with the dark circles under his blackened eyes. Shivers ran down her spine when their gaze locked. The boy's eyes narrowed and Yuna couldn't help but feel saddened. She didn't know why she did though.
She turned her gaze else where, to the teacher who had already started class. The class rolled on and as it did, Yuna felt her body become weak. The room was very warm and it caused her to become dizzy. Apparently, she looked as bad as she felt, for Mr. Gray had stopped the entire class and called out to her. "Ms. Lovecraft, Ms. Lovecraft? Are you alright," he asked. His voice faded in and out and Yuna shook her head. He placed down his chalk and walked over to her, he placed a cold hand to her head. "A fever....can I have someone take her to the nurse?"
Many hands rose but the chosen one was Sou. The boy who sat next to Yuna stared darkly at Sou when he touched her. He helped her up and his eyes went to the boy's. For a moment they seemed to be fighting with only their gaze. When Yuna groaned, Sou brought the long stare. He picked her up and carried her out of the class room. "Where....are you taking me..." Yuna said softly. The feeling grew worse and her head was full of pain. "Relax your body, I'm taking you to the nurse."
How could she relax when she knew this person was dangerous. A man that wears a mask always is. But, even so, his words seemed sincere. Forcing her body to do so, she relaxed and she was taken in by his warmth. Using his foot he opened the door and called out for the nurse. There was no answer. Sighing, Sou walked over to the empty beds and laid Yuna down in one. He sat next to her as she stare up at the ceiling. "Why are you being kind to me?" Sou chuckled at her strange question.
"Because you're a Queen." Queen? Before she could even ask, the curtains closed and Sou was now on top of her. "W-wha-" she tried to push him off but she easily pinned her arms above her. "We've waited so long for you.....you know, She'll be happy to hear of your return. She's been waiting for you for such a long time," he spoke in a strange voice. Yuna struggled against the male but it was no use, he was too strong. His free hand started to undo her blouse, then her shirt. Her face reddened when her chest was exposed.
Sou's tongue ran along his lips. "Ever since yesterday, I couldn't help but yarn for you. I craved for you, your body, the taste of your skin against my tongue, the warmth of your blood flowing down my throat. Oh, your scent is just too....thrilling," he purred as his face lowered. He kissed Yuna's soft lips softly and she felt her body go numb. Her body went limp and her mind went hazy. She felt his tongue run along her neck to her cheek.
Her heart pounded within her chest, her pendent burned against her skin. She could feel his teeth scrap across the skin of her neck. His teeth dug deeper and through the numbness she could feel the sharp pain. Warmth flowed from her neck and her body felt heated. She could hear the slurping, the chewing, the panting as she felt herself being taken in, being devoured by a stranger who wore a mask.
His hand cupped her breast and squeezed hard, making Yuna gasp. The sharp pain was quickly replaced with pleasure as his mouth moved lower. Her chest rose and fell rapidly. What was this feeling? She felt so good but at the same time she was terrified. But, she wasn't terrified of this man, no, she was terrified of herself. She had felt this feeling before, she has had someone on top of her before but she couldn't remember when or where.
A bright light came from her burning pendent. It marked her skin and made Sou pull back and hiss. "You-How do you have this?!" Yuna's eyes widened when she gazed upon his no longer beautiful face. It was cracked and grey, his eyes were no longer black but now a bright crimson, his teeth were sharp and stained with her blood. The light brightened, forcing him to draw back. The light did no let up, it soon illuminated the entire room.
When the light did fade, Sou was gone and she was left alone, bleeding out. Her eyes closed and she felt herself lose conscious. As she slept, her body started to bubble and heal itself. The bone patched back together, the muscle formed back and the skin stitched itself back together. The blood boiled off and evaporated. Her body relaxed and she slept peacefully.
When Yuna awoke she found herself in a strange place. She sat up and place a hand to her forehead. She was sitting in a plain white bed and white curtains surrounded her. She got out of bed, noticing her shirt was undone she quickly fixed it, she pulled back the curtains. It looked like a nurse's room. Kinda like father's. She was along in this room and she found it strange since she couldn't remember how she had gotten here. The last thing she could remember was being in the classroom.
She drew back the sliding door and entered the empty hallway. Everything was dark. Was school over? She walked down the lonely hallway and she would glance into a room every once in a while. She made her way outside and to her surprise someone was leaning against the gate. It was the boy who was sleeping during class.
He noticed her and he stopped leaning against the gate. He stared at her and Yuna stopped in front of him. They stared at one another. His blackened eyes scanned her body and relief seemed to make its way onto his face. Yuna did not know why he had such an expression on his face but it made her feel, happy? "Come on....I'll walk you home," he said in a soft voice. He held out a pale hand and Yuna stared at it.
"Why," she asked as she took the stranger's cold hand. "Because you're a girl....and it's not safe for a girl to be walking home alone," he answered as they walked. He walked a few steps ahead of her and Yuna found herself staring at the male's back. A small smile formed along her lips, such a handsome, scary looking young man was in reality a very kind one. "Rowen...." he glanced behind him to see her confused expression. "My name Rowen Cane." His tired eyes gazed at her before looking ahead. "Yuna," she told him.
She felt completely at ease as they walked hand in hand. It was such a strange feeling. A feeling of nostalgia filled her heart. She felt a sense of melancholy fill her heart as well. A stranger, she did not know him, but he made her feel safe and sad. "We're here..." he said and she snapped out of her thoughts. They had stopped in front of the steps of the shrine. How did he know that she lived here? He slipped his hand from hers and she felt her hand grow cold. "Be safe going up....." Rowen told her with a soft gaze. He patted her head before starting to walk off. She watched him leave, her hand remained over her heart.
