'Is that what you called the thing you kept me in?' it asked her.

     'Yes,' she replied before drawing its attention back to the mass of machinery that had kept it alive for so long. 'That's it over there.'

     'Right. I better get us over there then.' It used the nearby console for support as it got Kara's body to stand somewhat unsteadily on its feet before trying to walk.

     It's steps were wobbly and it held out Kara's arms to help it keep thier balance as it made their way to the containment unit. When it got there, it used it to help support them as it made its way around to the panel where it knelt down in front of it.

     'Now what?' it asked its human host. The panel was kept shut with a series of latches which the symbiote was at a loss on how to open.

     'Don't worry, I'll show you how to do it.' she told before guiding it through the process.

     With the ease that came from frequent repition, she showed it how to flip, twist, and slide the various latches until there was a satisfying hissing pop that came when the seal between the panel and the compartment behind it broke. Freezing cold air flowed from the opening as the pulled the panel off and set it aside. Inside were two of the bags holding the concentrated version of the nutrient rich fluid they had used feed the creature. One was nearly empty with barely a half a cup of the precious amber fluid in the bottom of it. The other was still full and untapped by the machinery that fed it to the symbiote.

     Hungrily, it reached for the nearly empty bag first, tearing it out of the clamps that held its nozzle securely to the machiney's piping before Kara could tell it how to remove it safely. Fortunately, the bag and its nozzle were made of a soft but durable rubberize plastic which flexed and stretched instead of tearing from the abuse. The the clamps that held if, however, were not and they made a very audible snap as they broke. The symbiote ingored their broken pieces when they hit them and lifted the bag to Kara's mouth to feed.

     It drained the bag quickly and thoroughly, extending a part of itself out of Kara's mouth to scour the inside of the bag for the last few remaining drops. As it fed, a warm feeling spread through out Kara's body making her realize how cold she had been up until now. When it was finished with the bag, it tossed it aside and reached for the other. It froze in mid reatch as it felt a man roughly grab it's host by her hair and put a knife to her throat.

     Kara quailed with fear at the contact and images of her bleeding to death on the floor with her throat slashed open flashed across the surface of her mind infuriating the symbiote. It and its host were still to weak to defend themselves but it was quickly getting stronger from consuming the nutrient rich fluid. It would soon be more than strong enough to defeat the man; all it had to was wait just a little longer until it had the strength to fight back.
