I decide to head out. Sure I wasn't allowed to go near the woods, but since my house was surrounded by them, I don't think I'd be able to avoid it. I still lived in Sheffield, but my grandpa wanted to live secretly, away from the rest of society.
Which is funny, since he always traveling around the world meeting people. Though, I guess it could have something to do with me. I actually have never followed the dirt road to Sheffield. And the only people I've met, other than grandpa, are the people on TV.
Grandpa made sure to hide my existence, though I've never understood why. No one knows he has a grandson, from what I see on television. They don't even know he ever fell in love with someone.
I ruffle my brown hair as I grab my jacket. I wanted to explore some more today. Grandfather didn't even want me going in the woods, so I've kept my adventuring secret.
I tie my shoes and head to the door. I notice a mirror hanging next to it, as I look at it, two violet orbs look back at me.
I bring a hand to my eyes, as does the person in the mirror. I shake my head and exit the door, heading quickly into the forest. After awhile I hear a strange rustling noise in a giant bush beside me. I turn towards it and narrow my eyes.
Then I find myself looking at two blue ones. I feel myself grin widely.
“Oh, Taku! You scared me, don't do that!” I tell him, noticing the notebook under his arm, and the pencil on his ear.
“You're doing more research.” It wasn't a question. Ryota Takumi, a researcher my age. I bumped into him while exploring one time, and we have become good friends. So I guess I lied before, I have met someone else in the world. He smiles at me.
“Ah, Rehn! Glad to see you. Could you help me catch a demon?” My eyes widened, before realizing that he was most likely joking.
“Yeah right. You know we can't do that. We will get in huge trouble if we even try.” I state, causing Taku to ‘tsk’ several times, waving his finger in front of me.
“Come on Rehn, where is your sense of adventure? They won't catch us, don't worry!” He tells me, a grin taking over his features as he opens his notebook looks inside.
“I believe I know the best place to ambush one.” He tells me, immediately walking away from me. I shake my head before looking in the direction of my house.
I can still go back. I don't have to go with Taku, we could get in serious danger. My life could change forever.
I shake my head, realizing that Taku was probably right. There was most likely a slim chance that we would be caught by the Exterminators.
I turn to the direction Taku went, and run after him.
What's the worse that could happen?
I didn't want to know.
