It took every iota of self-control I have to stick with the page naming convention and not call this one "Shitty Magical Girl Transformation Time." But I did it! So we've finally gotten to Japhet's complete design in all of their painful-looking glory! The background beasties are actual factual bird ancestors similar to each stage in Japh's transformation. I'll post a link to a more elaborate description of what those animals were and how Japhet's biology reflects them when this page is more complete. :)
Edit 1: Here's that link for anyone who wants to read science stuff! https://unnaturallife.com/comic?page=20 The page on the main site is... slightly ahead of Tapas updates... but the description is at the bottom under "Artist's Comment." TL;DR Japhet's biology mimics the evolution of birds from their reptilian common ancestor with pterosaurs to quill-covered dinosaur to birb.
Edit 2: I don't often put that much effort into textures, but Japhet's baby bird fuzz requires special care. Next episode will be... a departure from my usual style. (But really, which of these episodes isn't stylistically incongruous with the whole in some fundamental way?) Anyway, if you're reading this, I'm glad you made it through 2017. :) That in itself is worthwhile, in addition to whatever personal milestones you might have hit this past year. 2017 was a Satan's taint kind of year, but I'm really proud of how everyone's been handling it. Keep on keepin' on, as they say.
There's a bug going around, jamming just about any genes it likes into human DNA, and transforming its hosts into Virmen: contagious and beastly mistakes of god.
Society has re-structured well enough to the parasite's presence that the word "pandemic" hardly crosses any lips.
Japhet finds themself stuck with the sharp end of how society keeps itself clean, and they won't be taking it kindly.
Updates Mondays. The standalone site is more accessible, and has a content warning widget cause it gon' get nasty.
