My knee was bleeding. I knew it. I could feel the skin being peeled away by the wooden floorboards. Tears involuntarily formed in my eyes and dripped down my face. I cried silently. I looked back and through my blurred sight, I could see red smears decorating the brown floor. I tugged at what gripped my arm and try to ply the fingers off using my free hand. But the grip only became tighter. I clawed at the floor, trying to find something to hang onto. The whole time I hoped I didn't get a splinter.
A sudden loud bang made me move my head up, but I already knew where the sound was coming from. The hand yanked my body from off the floor and I stumbled into darkness as it released my wrist from its grasp. A bed pressed against my side allowing me to break my fall. My breathes come out in gasps. Another loud bang and a click following after. I jump up and limp towards the door, trying my best to run.
"When I tell you to go to your room, I mean it!" hisses a voice through the door. More tears stream down my face and I began to slap my hands on the door. The hard surface makes loud thuds as my hands collide with it.
"Auntie! Please! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" I tell her. I call her name again. Over and Over. No response comes my way. I can hear the taps of her feet grow distant. I cover my face with my hands to stifle my cry and sink down to the floor. Something is pounding in my head and an invisible rubber band thuds repeatedly against my knee, making it itchy. I wish I knew how to listen and wasn't such a terrible child. Maybe then I wouldn't get in trouble so much.
I hear the tapping of feet through the floor. The vibrations are soothing to my head. The steps come closer. Did the door open? I don't remember. An empty space comes between me and the floor, and something soft and warm replaces it. A tall figure lays beside me and cradles me, whispering in my ear...
"I'll take care of you...Kasumi..."
"Hiroto..."
A gentle hand runs through my hair.
