I'm extremely embarrassed to admit this. my mental image of the singer of Blue Christmas has always looked and sounded like an illegitimate child of Morgan Freeman up until pretty recently. I.... had the same problem with Sam Smith.
(but dude, Blue Christmas was rockin'. It was my favourite song growing up even though it was a christmas song)
