Ryuu's POV:
We make our way through the blizzard looking for a place to take cover until the storm stops. The four of us are shivering and can’t feel our hands or feet. Up ahead we spot a cave opening. I look to the others and smile in relief. They mimic my expression and we all run to the cave opening and shake off the snow we collected.
The cave smells like another demon, but she’s young so we should be alright. She shouldn't recognize us all the way out here, and if she does act hostile, we should be able to defend ourselves. I look to my three younger brothers and begin to worry when I notice that their lips are blue.
We walk to the back of the cave where it takes a sharp turn into a large room. The structure of the cave seems unnatural, and the current resident doesn't smell like an earth type. She doesn't smell like any type actually.
The room is filled with animal pelts on the ground in the corner like a nest, and the other corner is filled with wood. We laugh at how awesome this find is. We set our packs down on the far wall and I stack some wood in the middle of the room. The others start changing and I start the fire with my powers. Once the others are dressed and warming around the fire with one of the many pelts around them, I go, change and lay our wet clothing around the fire. I grab a black bear pelt and study it before wrapping it around me. Whoever tanned the hide is skilled with a knife.
"Maybe we should try not to piss of whoever lives here." I shiver out and Kuro, the youngest, nods in agreement.
Kalan, the second oldest, rolls his eyes and sneezes, "Who cares how good she is with a knife, once we warm up it'll be easy to convince her to let us stay."
"As expected from the playboy," says Khidell. "Let's just woo her and make her do everything we say because we are pretty." the sarcasm is dripping from his voice like oil off a ball of water. "While we're at it, let's just kick her out her own home because we're cold." he glares at his younger brother of two years and before they start bickering Kuro jumps in.
"Kalan may be on the right track," we all snap to look at him.
"I thought Ryuu, was supposed to be the push over," says Khidell and I smack the back of his head. He glares at me and rubs the spot I hit, "It's true, you always go with whatever we decide and never push your own opinions." I glare at him and we return our attention to Kuro.
"Not the whole ‘woo’ her thing," Kuro waves his hand from under his wolf pelt. "I'm thinking more along the lines of make sure she doesn't see us as a threat in her own home." we pause for a moment and I can once again hear our chattering teeth over the crackle of the fire. "We did trespass and are using her resources, so it's the least we can do." he shrugs and we slowly nod.
"The least we can do is warm ourselves enough that she doesn't need to worry about four frozen bodies in her home," Khidell says.
Kalan groans, "Must you always be such a downer?" he says and they start bickering. I roll my eyes and add another log to the fire.
"Just shut up already," Kuro finally yells. "You're wasting energy." We sit around the fire in a heavy silence waiting for our teeth to stop chattering and feeling to return to our appendages.
