I am the amulet for the entire time, until just before the amulet pulls me into its memories. I wake suddenly and startle the boys, who are panicking over the fire. The storm still going and my emergency rations running low. I sit up and they look at me in shock, and then relief as Ryuu and Kalan and Kuro rush over to hug me and make sure that I'm really awake. Khidell walks over and grabs the amulet still around my neck.
He looks back up at my eyes before nodding and letting it fall back to my chest. "I was afraid it was bloodstone." he said and I notice that the swirling in the stone stopped.
"Let me guess," I ask Khidell after I catch my breath. "You recognized the stone, but couldn't see any of the normal traits of a bloodstone?" he looks at me and nods.
"Bloodstones, are supposed to be jagged, impossible to refine, and deadly to any who wear them," Khidell defends and I nod.
"Normally, but this isn't a natural made bloodstone that absorbed a poor lost soul," Kuro, Ryuu, and Kalan look like dogs watching a tennis game, trying real hard to catch what we mean, but not understanding anything. Khidell stares at me for a moment in confusion. "This bloodstone was created by witches, seven millennia ago." my hand automatically reaches for the amulet as his features change from shock to disgust in three seconds. I sigh and nod, "This amulet was a human male, that was torn apart by magic and his blood and soul was refined into a stone that would carry the memories of its wearers until it found someone who could handle this much power and knowledge." We sit in silence for a moment and I let them absorb this new information. Kuro and Ryuu understand that the sleep I was in, wasn't natural or peaceful, and Kalan and Khidell slowly understand that if I was considered a monster before, I might as well be a God now. I sigh and shut down any feeling of hurt that rises when I see the fear in their eyes. "You brought me my mother's amulet, for that I will give you my services. Until each of you decide that I am no longer needed, I shall stay with you. I am yours to control, but I shall warn you, your lives shall be my main priority at all times." I stare at each of them and make sure they understand what I mean. They don't fully comprehend the message, but they understand enough. "Any way, I'm starving.” I say and get up as my stomach growls.
"We are almost out of food, and the storm hasn't let up yet." says Ryuu with a shake of his head. They all stand.
"I shall go hunting, and bring back some food, you wait here and get the fire ready." They nod and I walk out of the small area. I remove my pelts and shift into my wolf form. I sniff the air and locate a heard of dear about halfway down the mountain. I yip and then bolt out of the cave. I run at full speed and cover ten miles in about two minutes, my muscles feel sore, but the activity feels great. I slow down about ten feet away and creep up on the herd. The storm doesn't reach down this far and the snow is softer under the thick pine trees. I creep up silently to the herd and crouch under a tree locating the biggest and meatiest does. The herd hasn’t sensed me yet, and my tail starts wagging in anticipation. I step forward and growl softly, the herd is immediately on the lookout for the enemy, and I can feel my excitement rise at the thought of a chase, but my stomach growls and I remember that I need food now. They spot me a moment later and take off running in the other direction. I howl and pursue them. I single out the meatiest does and pounce ripping out their throats, killing them before they can suffer too much. I grab a hoof from each of the three deer and drag them back up the mountain to the cave where the princes are waiting for me at the entrance. I drop the deer at their feet and shake off the snow my fur gathered. They flinch away from the flying water and hide beneath the hides they have around them. Kuro and Ryuu grab the smallest doe and take her back to the fire to cook, while Kalan and Khidell sit next to me by the entrance. I huff and start eating my share, not caring if they think it's gross. I tear into her tender stomach and rip it open. As the blood flows, mixing with the slush by my paws, I dig into her insides and empty her. I grab the hind leg with my jaw and place my front paw on the carcass. I rip the leg off and toss it towards Khidell, he looks at me cautiously for a second before undressing and shifting into his panther form. He tears into it while Ryuu and Kuro come back around the corner with cooked meat in their hands for their brothers. Kalan and Ryuu look at Khidell with surprise and disgust, while Kuro looks excited. I huff again and tear out a big chunk of meat from the ribs, I finish the first deer, by the time they move again.
Behind me I can hear Kalan scramble over to Ryuu, while Kuro slowly gets closer while losing layers. I become curious while moving to the other deer and look up at him. Khidell is also looking at him with confusion. Kuro stops, fully naked in front of me and looks at me questioningly, I cock my head and he smirks, before he shifts into a black fox. I can hear his brothers gasp, while he just approaches the hind quarters of the deer on his stomach. When I don't growl at him he yips, at me and takes a bite. I shrug and continue eating not waiting for his brothers to catch up. When the second deer is finished, I gather the carcasses and toss them into the forest. When I return, Kuro is half dressed and getting yelled at by a fully clothed Khidell. He sounds irritated. I shake off once more, and Kalan approaches me cautiously. Ryuu joins Khidell with lecturing Kuro about being naked around women and eating raw meat.
