I walk into class and greet my teacher. It's half an hour before class and she's sitting at her desk reading.
“Oh, I didn't see you there Max!” She says this in English as I approach her desk. This teacher happens to be the same one who has become like a friend to me. She stands and gives me a hug. “So, how's it going with Safer?” We're so close that I've told her about my crush on Safer. I feel my cheeks turn pink and I cover my face with my hands. “What's wrong? There's no need to be embarrassed, almost everyone in the school likes him.” True. I remove my hands and set them at my sides.
“We talked today,” I peep. I look at her face and she sort of lights up. Her expression, one of surprise and excitement.
As the minutes pass, we sit down and talk about what our new unit in the English class will be about. When the short hand on the clock reaches seven, I saunter to my seat and take out my binders. There, in the doorway, walks in Safer. You're probably wondering, what's with their names, aren't they Korean? They are. Partly. You see, Hilton is half German and half Korean. And Safer is half Swedish, half Korean. You're probably wondering what they look like. They're beautiful. Inhumane. Though I hate Hilton, I've got to say, he's hot.
Hilton and I actually have some history together. When I was in middle school in America, he was in all of my classes, though we never really talked to each other. But one day, I was at school eating my lunch like a normal human being, when he bumped into me. I emphasize the “he” and “me” because this incident revolves around the role we each played. This incident is also the reason I call him Jerk and not Hilton, his given name. Anyway, when he bumped into me I said sorry, and I went out of my way to say this to him. I say this because ever since I laid my eyes upon him, I despised him greatly.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to.” I had spilled his juice all over his new, expensive white shirt. It was a red drink too.
“ Oh, was it you that pushed me?” He asks.
“Pushed, are you kidding me? It was clearly you that bumped into me, Hilton.” He looks at me in disgust. I already know that I'm ugly, I think.
“Well, know this; you pushed me and know you’re on my bad side.”
“Wow, I’m so scared now. You really have quite the aura.” I went home with a black eye and bloody nose that day. And now you know why I call him Jerk.
