There was a soft sound of nimble fingers tapping against an electronic tablet as Officer Karl Hion typed in Celeste’s official statement. Officer Karl sat across from Celeste on the dining room table. Around them Enforcement Officers moved about the apartment taking measurements with tiny hi-tech devices that took readings quietly.
Only minutes after Law had jumped out the window, the main apartment door slid open and Enforcement Officers led by Celeste’s parents poured in. They were armored and had their weapons ready to fire. An Outlander this far into the city was almost unheard of. Outlanders did not live in the floating cities; they hid like rats in the jungles below the cities of the country Edeth. They rejected modern civilization and everything it represented, like… basically being civil. Celeste’s parents were relieved when they realized that the intruder was gone.
After things calmed down it was time for Celeste to explain what had happened that night; why there was a hole in her bedroom of all apartments in the building. “He used magic!” Officer Karl whistled as he typed. Celeste’s parents sat on either side of her, still fully geared up in uniform. Her father, Owen Sidman, had his arm protectively around her while her mother, Scarlett Sidman, held her hands together on the table top in a nervous knot.
“So it seems that the intruder disabled the building’s window energy fields. Very clever for an Outlander….” Officer Karl analyzed his notes thoughtfully. He was interrupted by an annoyed Enforcement Officer named Geon Paistone. “What did the intruder want from this apartment?!” His question was directed at Celeste. He leaned his bulky body towards her analyzing her face as she answered that she did not know. Upon receiving the answer, Officer Geon suspiciously asked, “You spoke to him! Saw his face… and he left you alive! Why?” Celeste panicked internally, why was this man suspecting her? Everyone else was happy to believe that she was a victim in all this.
“I don’t know. He said I could be sure to see him again,” Celeste said, “Maybe he still does mean to kill me”. His eyes widened slightly. Officer Karl looked up from his notes and her mother gasped beside her.
