This is for everyone who is sick of people saying "the wage gap doesn't exist because it's illegal." Like, bitch, please. Let's use some of those non-existent critical thinking skills and cold hard facts.
First, a basic history lesson: the EPA was signed in 1963 to prevent discrimination based on gender, then the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act was put into action in 2009 so that the statute of limitations was reset after each pay check and not the original date of hire. Kay, onto the roast-I mean, lesson.
I'm pretty sure it's common knowledge that stealing is illegal, yeah? And so is assault, murder, rape, sexual assault, human trafficking, etc. Do those things still happen? Hint: YES. Now, is wage discrimination illegal? Yes. Can it still happen? Yes, it's just that the employers will face heavy charges, just like those who commit assault, murder, rape, etc. Remember, kids! You can do anything you want, you just have to be smart enough to escape punishment! Or is it to just not do illegal stuff? Oh well, just be smarter than this company:

All it takes is some open conversation about how much you're being paid to do your job, and BAM! Got a 5 million dollar fine slapped on a hypocritical company.
Here's another common dick move-I mean argument: "If women are paid less by companies, wouldn't they just hire more women?"
Women are being paid less for the same reason that companies don't hire more women to make a bigger profit: they think women are inferior, therefore won't do as good a job as men. This is obviously not true. At the heart of the wage gap is sexism and greed.
There are other common dick moves-sorry, arguments, but they're simply to stupid to list. If you want, you can comment another one you think is wayyy too common and I'll reply with my answer. Just please keep in mind that it might be 4 in the morning and I'll be tired as fuck.
