I finish my morning routine and go downstairs only to make a piece of toast and run outside to my truck
Hopping into it and turning on my radio to 103.1 FM I pull out to the song 'You Already Know' by a new artist I found.
“You can’t escape me,
You can’t out run me,
I’ll hunt you down,
You’ll already know when your heart goes and tries to hide away.”
The song is catchy but the lyrics are somewhat confusing, I always question if they were in love when they wrote this.
But I ignore that and continue to drive on.
By the time the next three songs play I notice that I am at the work and by the look at the clock on my car I find myself frowning.
I'm ten minutes early.
Sighing I grab my book bag, lock up, and begin walking to the doors.
Soon as I pass the threshold of the door I find the welcoming smell of lavender and also smell of both new or old books mixed together.
Many might not like to be ambushed by such a scent but I love it.
I enjoy getting to work first for many reasons but the fact that no one is here this early and that I can pick up any book to read is the best of all.
I’ve read so many books that I'm surprised I'm not sick of doing so yet or that I haven't read them all.
But out of all the browsing I do within the those ten minuets I select one that I've been itching to read.
"The growth of your heart"
Although the title sounds sappy the story isn't.
It's apparently based off of true events of a boy and girl who were forced to love each other against there own will.
The thought of how this even happened is so intriguing that I can't even wait to sit down and read it.
I start while walking to the chair behind the desk.
But I don't even get into a paragraph before I hear the chime of the door and footsteps soon after.
Sucks that I couldn't get that far in it but I put on a smile to hide my disappointment.
As the footsteps sound proceed to wander the store I find Socks the cat wandering on top of the window sill and then gracefully jumping onto the floor.
She must sense me staring at her because she quickly changes the direction of her feet to starts to walk toward me.
But she doesn't get that close to me once I find she's completely in my field of vision.
Which is to no surprise considering we have a love/hate relationship.
It's quite amusing actually cause though I'm the one who saved and nurtured her back to health she still keeps a guard up occasionally around me.
Right now though that guard is really up though and it's not til I see the shadow on the floor that I realize the random customer might be the reason why.
As I stand up to make look at the stranger I catch a whiff of a nice musky intoxicating scent.
When I see the guy in front of me though I'm not surprised why Socks is on guard.
Although the stranger is a tad taller than me he emits a air of authority but at the same time dominance.
It isn't hard to see he’s not like a average guy on the street even without that effect.
His flawless olive skin is so beautiful and smooth it’s enough to make a person question his gender but once you see the rest of him there’s no doubt that he’s all male.
His dark tousled raven black hair and his blue eyes with specks of grey were enough to make him stand out from the crowd though.
Not to mention his build was nice too, not to bulky but at same time enough to know he could handle himself well in a fight.
Wonder if down there is....
“So are you done looking or are you still busy?”
It startles me that his voice is so deep but at the same time has a playful tone to it.
So when my face start to heat up it’s not a surprise to hear laughter.
I’ve done a lot of things in my 24 years of living but checking out a guy while thinking about his dick then getting called out on it is not one of them.
I really don’t want to make eye contact with him at the moment and getting laughed at is humiliating enough so I look through my bangs with my head lowered and spot the book that he’s interested in buying.
So without raising my head I go to grab it with the intentions of finishing this quickly so I can get rid of him.
“Don’t lower your head, look up.”
The humor in his voice is still there but at the same time I hear a bit of a demand.
But nonetheless I look up and when I do all that’s falls out of my mouth is holy shit.
