Legends of old tell of beast raining down hell’s fire from their maws as their masters and riders raged war against the people of the land!
Chaos was all that remind of these lands; once rich and lush now barren and decaying…
Archeologist, still, to this day venture out to find lost treasures of forgotten civilizations; seeking fame and glory, forming parties with warriors they became adventurers!
A small wide eyed girl grinned menacing as she listened to the tall tales of monsters and the adventurers that hunt them.
“I’m going to be an adventurer when I grow up!” Her breath whispered out the words through her lips as she continued to listen, enticed by ever gesture her teacher made!
The little girl’s eyes sparked and danced with excitement as the day’s lessons came to a close. As soon as the teacher dismissed them she dashed out the small makeshift classroom and onto the playground with a stick in hand – her makeshift sword.
“Come on Ibon, dual me! Together we’ll conquer the dead lands!” The girl taunted him taking a stance ready to fend for her life.
“No, Averisa! You know I can’t, because I’m going to become king!” The boy hissed crossing his arms.
“Only a prince becomes a king, Ibon! You’re only a guard’s son! Me on the other hand, the blood of the Dawn runs in my veins, I’ll be the greatest mage and warrior the Adventuring world will ever see!” She boasted and laughed at the boy’s status. He was about 2 years younger than her, yet they were best friends as her mother was the royal court mage and her assigned guard was his father.
Though this was not why they become friends, rather it was due to both missing a parent, his mother died giving birth to him and her father unable to lay claim to his daughter as she born from a Dawn’s Woman and woman outranked men when it came to Mages as she and her people. And so they were both left with a broken family!
Averisa looked at Ibon with her fierce vivid blue eyes. The wind tugged at her the sun’s light glistening of as a coppery gold light, giving her a regal look of a true little warrior.
Her gaze was challenging him to try and prove his worth to her as her future knight, to guard her as the next Royal Mage as his father protects her mother.
“If you can beat me and become an adventurer, I can become king!” He declared picking up a stick of his own…
Averisa panting as she lied in the dirt, her lungs burning, she had lost again! Ibon was stronger than her, even faster than her! She had practiced so hard and still she could not beat him.
“You should stick to magic, Averisa! I always hear the mage speak about how strong an aura you have, why are you always fighting against becoming like your mother? She’s amazing, strong and wise! Not to mention everyone loves her!”
“Not me! She doesn’t love me, so why should I love her? All she cares about is me fueling her! As soon as I turn eighteen and form a contract with her, she’ll become stronger still! I don’t want that! I want to be free and strong by myself!” Averisa raised her hand grasping at the unreachable sky above…
“It’s unfair! Why can’t I use my magic? Yet you can, spite being born from a lowly Star Clanswoman’s son?” She huffed as she stood up and dusted herself off.
