Hey! Sorry this has been a late update, but life just has away of making you busy. This time I came up with the title before the plot because that's just how I'm rolling this evening. Anyways, if you don't know the drill, I only have 30-45 minutes to write a prompt with random words I need to incorporate.
This evenings words: hostility, nut, bleed, uncertainty... Looking like a vampire story.
I chewed the inside of my cheek, as I stared at the snack section in Trader Joes. My left hand held dried apricots while my right hand clutched a bag of chocolate covered cashews. I glazed over the dried fruit. If I picked the apricots, it would help with my anemia and Dom would be happy. My eyes locked onto the chocolate nuts. But chocolate was so good.
I sighed and threw the apricots back on the shelf. Who was I kidding, chocolate always trumps everything else. Besides, its dark chocolate, which will make me feel less fat.
"Excuse me," A voice from over my shoulder caused me to turn my head. "That's not where those go."
His chin jutted to the bag of fruit that I arbitrarily threw. I furrowed my brows, was I really getting told to put something back? That never happens.
"Uh, Sorry," I said turning my head and leaning over to grab the bag.
That's when I felt the barrel of a gun against my lower back. My breath was caught in my throat as the perpetrator brought his head toward my ear. I tried to shift my gaze in his direction, but he was too close and his features were all blurry.
"Okay, here's what's gonna happen," His breath smelt of cheep cigarettes and low grade alcohol. "You are going to buy your crap, walk out with me, like we're buddy-buddy, and get in my car,"
"And what if I refuse?" I squeezed the fruit in my hand.
"I'll kill you," He deadpaned.
Well, that was a stupid question. Good going Addie. You just had to have a fat moment and get some food. The gun dug into my back and it snapped my back into reality.
The man behind me grabbed my arm and pulled me close to him. He concealed his gun, but I knew better than to do something dumb. To everyone else in the store, it looked as if we were one of those obsessed couples, who had to keep touching each other in some way. I instantly thought of Dom. I needed to call him, he'd know what to do.
I payed for my for my food and I walked out the store with the man. I could finally get a good look at him. He had cropped, brown hair with a rat's nest of curls on the top of his head. He was tall, but not as tall as Dom. His skin was tan, like he was from somewhere warm. This made me jealous because it was snowing on the way here. He also had a runner's build and he wasn't afraid to show his strength as he squeezed my arm. I gritted my teeth.
"You don't have to pull out the gun again. I was compliant in the store, wasn't I?" I said when I was jabbed in the side with the barrel of the gun once more. How could I be so stupid? He wasn't even wearing the iconic Trader Joes shirt.
"Where is your car?" He asked ignoring me.
"Why?" I asked as he dragged me away from the entrance of the store. "Don't you have some creepy van to shove me in? Or can't you just rob me then let me go." Shut up Addie! Dom wasn't here to tell you everything was going to be okay.
"Car," He said with increased agitation in his tone.
"You know, when my boyfriend finds out what you're doing, you're screwed." I said searching my purse for my car keys. He had let go of me for a minute while I searched.
"Oh, yeah," He grunted. "Is that why you're acting all-"
"Found them!" I said cutting him off and pulling my hand out of my purse. I smash the heel of my palm against his nose and felt it crack. I ran when he dropped his gun grabbed his nose.
I once took a self defense course three years ago. Of course, I forgot everything, except how to break someone's because Becky Newburgh hated my guts and "couldn't remember" that we were only supposed to pretend to attack the other person we were sparring with.
Slipping on black ice took me out of my head and back into the real world. For the first time in my entire life I was pissed that I was wearing baggy sweat pants. I cursed loudly as my hands and knees started to bleed. Dom is definitely going to freak out when he sees me.
"Get in the car," A voice barked from the road beside me. I couldn't see his face, but the sheen from his gun caused by the street lamps, were all too clear.
"O-Okay, okay." I raised both my hands up in the air and walked to the passenger seat of the car. Panic rose in my chest as the shock of being kidnapped hit me. Dom was not here and I truly was screwed.
"Crap, are you bleeding?" He asked when buckled myself in. "Well, now the element of surprised is ruined."
I furrowed my brows in confusion. "What the hell are you talking about?"
"Your boyfriend, he'll know your hurt." He said brushing a hand through his hair. I tilted my head in confusion before I realized we were turning down a familiar street.
"Wait, what's going on? This is the direction to my house. Who are you?" Words and questions started spilling out of me as fear rushed through my veins.
"Ugh, you glamoured girls are all the same." My kidnapper said as we turned down another street.
"Tell me what's going on!" I shouted in his ear. He winced, but said nothing. "Tell me or... Or I'll throw myself out of this car!"
Great, now I sounded just as insane as my kidnapper. His eyes remained steady on the road and my own eyes went wide. It's almost as if he's heard the open threat before.
"No, stop, don't," He said in lacking any emotion in his voice and I wanted to break his nose again. When I looked at his face this time, there was no sign of abuse, just the same bags under his eyes from what I assumed was lack of sleep.
"Seriously, what do you want from me?" I said with a sigh of defeat.
"It's not you I want," My kidnapper said. "It's the monster living in your house."
"Monster? ... Are you talking about Dom?" I asked as we turned down my street. "You know Dom?
"We're not exactly friends," The man said pulling into my driveway.
"Well, I can see that," I said noting to the situation I was in.
"Stay in the car," He said with hostility in his voice and cocking his gun.
Before I could protest, he had already slammed my car door and was heading for my house. My eyes widened in horror as he kicked open my front door and started shooting his gun. Suddenly the overwhelming need to protect Dom kicked out any uncertainty I had about listening to the stranger who kidnapped me.
Before leaving my car, I called the cops and searched the front compartment for something I could use as a weapon. I slammed my door with my foot because both of my hands where to busy gripping a snow scrapper. It wasn't a gun, but it would have to do. I heard another gun shot and it made me hesitate before entering the house.
"Dom," I called out. "Dom, babe are you there?"
I had walked into the front of my house, but the room was empty. I called for my boyfriend once more, but there was no respond. As I crept into the kitchen, I couldn't help to think that my house had a lingering odor. It made my stomach churn, but I thought I would find the source only after I found Dom.
There was a sudden crash coming from the staircase and I didn't even think twice when I started running toward it. My kidnapper had been on the bottom step. His body had been in a twisted position and I heard him moan uncomfortably.
My first thought was to think, yes! My boyfriend had kicked this guy's ass, but that quickly changed when I saw who was on the top of the staircase.
I screamed.
