All I remember was getting on the bus. Sitting down behind some other kid getting nervous about performing for a bunch of orphans. Giving charity, was what they called it. Sharing our gifts instead of money. Inspiring those who haven’t been blessed as much as we had. They held these charities where they pick children who have excelled in their musical careers. You play two songs that are assigned to you and listen to your competitors play while hoping they will mess up. It was a surprise that I have chosen again that year. It was the year where I started to descend from my throne and watched younger and better musical geniuses take it. I used to be able to hold my head up and play whatever song I was supposed to play there. But now it felt like I was being pitied.
