“Alora, how is it that you’re able to get stuck in mid-air by some form of magic, yet it’s impossible to get a job?” I groan, pinching the bridge of my nose. Alora crosses her arms and rolls her eyes.
“Ask her about the magic. I don’t want to get a job. I’m sixteen.” she growls, pointing to the girl wearing a ruby red dress with a glowing green necklace. Her brunette hair is in frizzy spiral curls falling in front of her seaweed green eyes.
“Ugh, it was just self defense. She was chasing me like a mad-woman.” the girl tells me, eyeing Alora. I sigh.
“Okay, can you use your ‘magic’ elsewhere? I’m kind of in the middle of my JOB.” I glare at both of them. “The MoonStone won’t find itself.”
“Wait, you’re looking for it, too?!” the girl shrieks. “That’s why I was sent here!”
I turn my head to look at her. It dawns on me how similar she looks to the girl I saw outside of the museum the day after the MoonStone was taken. She was asking so many questions we had to make her leave. I don’t know how she even got inside the parking lot.
“What do you know about it?” I ask suspiciously, crossing my arms. “Alora, if you could go home, that’d be nice.”
Alora glares at me, and turns to walk away, but soon Lina stands there. “If I may,” Lina begins, stepping in front of Alora and next to the girl. “I’ve gathered enough info to determine a few things. You aren’t from this realm. Your general aura isn’t human-like, and a species similar to a human has not been yet discovered. I’ve also gathered enough info to know there are many universes, yours next to ours, not parallel.” Lina says all of this with a completely serious face.
“Lina, these jokes aren’t funny.” Alora hisses, trying to grab her hand. Lina swipes her hand away and glares at Alora.
“Yeah, sure. I’m joking. Anyhow, the MoonStone came from the Realm of Relics. Humans travelled throughout many realms years ago and once they realized none were inhabitable, they created this realm. One half of the MoonStone broke off passing through your realm, whatever your name is. We continued carrying the other half to this realm, and it kept the world together. Rumor says it was a chunk of the Moon, but that is rumor, not fact. Now that it’s gone, it could very much lead to chaos.”
“How do you know all of this? You’re so young.” Alora mutters.
“Oh, so just because I’m nine, I’m automatically an idiot. Lovely. Anyhow, ma'am, what’s your name?”
“Skylar. I was sent here to retrieve my half of the MoonStone. My realm is already collapsing.” the girl, or Skylar says. “We know the masked person is in this realm, we were able to track which realm they’re in.”
“Lina, it’s time to go.” Alora says with force, her eyes starting to change color. From icy blue to purple. I step back slightly, watching as Lina starts floating in the air.
“Put me down!” Lina snaps.
“We’re going home! We aren’t getting involved in some magic problem. It isn’t our concern.” Alora turns and walks away, Lina floating after her. I look at Skylar with a look of concern, my mindset also concerned. I’ve always known magic existed, but I had no clue Alora had it.
“We’re going to need her.” Skylar tells me. “She’s related to the founder of this realm, the only one who’s able to actually come in contact with the MoonStone. We can’t retrieve it without her.”
