Luciel looked down at the two angels he had been assigned, Samuel and Faeriel. Faeriel had her own beauty being created by the chaos from the chaos realm. She was now nicknamed the Angel of Chaos so it was almost fitting that she was given to Luciel to look after. He found he liked her more then the other one with her sharpened teeth and darker wings. She was loud and made what she wanted known but Samuel didn't. He found the other male elusive so whenever he saw him he generally just sent him off on his own adventure. Today Samuel was to look after the silkworms and collect all the silk that he could. Luciel viewed it as good character building material but Gabriel, like always, had something to say.
"Why is Samuel collecting silk worms?" Gabriel asked appearing next to Luciel as he looked out into the clearing. It had been a week since the event on Earth and Luciel seemed to have recovered quicker then Michael who was still in the medical bay. Gabriel was worried for him and he knew Luciel was too although he hadn't expected to see this.
"I ordered him too. He's supposed to collect one hundred in under an hour." He said red eyes following the angels frantic movements as he kept running and grabbing the white worms. Gabriel frowned at this and would have said more when the smaller form of Faeriel jumped between them.
"Luci!!!" She practically wailed her little white dress shifting as she jumped from side to side. "You promised we would practice today." She said pouting as Luciel looked over at her crossing his arms. She interrupted him however when she saw Gabriel standing just nearby, "Oh, its the boss Angel sorry didn't even see you there." She said sheepishly but with a hint of venom that Gabriel didn't miss.
"Yeah grab your knife we can train." Luciel cut in.
'Wait, brother!" Gabriel called but his brothers larger wings were already open as he started to fly off. Gabriel watched him for a moment before sighing looking out and seeing Samuel still busily moving his eyes wide as he managed to grab yet another bug trapping it in a glass container. Looking away Gabriel decided to go check on Michael again, worried for the others safety.
Ever since the event down on Conduit, Michaels wings which were once a pretty white like Gabriels were taking on a darker look as he gained a more mottled look to his wings. With them becoming various shades of grey even some being pure black like Luciels were. Luciel had been knocked out for almost two days after the event but Michael had yet to wake up being in a comatose state. He was stationed in his room looking peaceful despite the fact of his skin paling and the occasional outburst of fire. He had to have a constant vigil and that job was given to Animila(his apprentice) and Raphael who had his opposite element. Water.
Walking inside the room it seemed to be just Animila. The angel was about the same age as the other apprentices with her unique purple wings and eyes. She had a fiery personality and was one of the most passionate angels Gabriel had ever met. It was no wonder that Michael had been assigned to her as a mentor with the similarities in values between the two. She was currently wearing the white dress that most female Angels wore. While the male ones wore a more robe-like design. "How's is he?" Gabriel asked crouching down next to Michael and taking his hand. It felt colder then usual and his breath seemed shallow. God still hadn't returned so they couldn't ask him for guidance when it came to Michael.
"Well he set my favorite dress on fire other then that. Still very still." Animila said with a sigh as she looked over at her mentor. It was worrying how long Michael had been out but Gabriel knew he couldn't do anything to help him despite wanting too. "I'm kind of hungry.." Animila cut in interrupting his thoughts.
"Yeah.. okay go have lunch." He whispered before sitting down wearily his eyes not once leaving Michaels. Animila hesitated for a moment before she sighed and left the room.
The Lunch hall was busy although devoid of the main four as she appeared smiling at the other angels. Faeriel grinned back at least while the one known as Samuel just sighed poking at his food idly. "Hey, Fae getting into trouble I assume?" Animila greeted as she took a seat next to the other female. There was seven that were being mentored at this moment, the rest being too young to start. Animila and Faeriel were similar in personality so they always seemed to get into trouble together. "What did you do for training today?"
"Watched Samuel scramble around while I got a one on one lesson with Luciel himself." Faeriel bragged punching Samuel in the arm causing him to jump before shifting away from them a bit more. His hands were raw from all the silk and worms he had to collect from and a couple other unknown abrasions were on his legs and even one on his chest. It was Samuel who noticed Luciel enter first his body tensing as the red eyed angel entered.
Faeriel's reaction however was way different as her face broke into a grin as she leaped to her feet. "Luciel!" She said moving quickly from her seat so she could stand in front of him. "Did you need something?" She asked tilting her head. He looked down at her a smile to his face before he shook his head.
"No not you. I need to talk to Samuel." He said the brown winged angel took a hesitant bite of his bread before he stood up obediently and walked over to his mentor.
"Yes?" He asked quietly.
"Follow me." Luciel said simply turning on his heel as he started to lead the way out of the mess hall. Samuel watched him for a moment before following although admittedly a bit slower. The walk lead him to the West Wing which was off limit to the newer angels which included Samuel. He knew better to question Luciel however and as they stopped in front of a mahogany door he just waited for Luciel to open it before following him inside.
A gasp escaped him as he looked around the room noticing rows upon rows of books and in the middle of the room was a strange swirling orb. It hurt to look at directly and craning his ears he could hear the sound of faint whispers coming from it. "The Zodiac orb. One of Gods creations. Only Gabriel knows how to use it although I think I got an idea." Luciel said walking over to it his hands reaching out but shying from touching the orb directly. Red eyes moving back to Samuel he reached out before grabbing his hands pulling the smaller angel against him. "It controls personality. The mind." He said.
Samuel bit his lip as he looked at it his heart starting to hammer at it's proximity. He didn't understand why they were here and his instincts were screaming at him to run. Yet he could trust Luciel couldn't he? He was his mentor the one who looked out for him who understood his well-being. Although he always had the feeling that Luciel didn't like him very much. "I want to use it on you."
Samuel shook his head at that trying to pull away from Luciel at that moment, "No.. I like the way I am."
"You like the way you are?" Luciel scoffed sounding disgusted as he let go of Samuel his face crinkling up. "You are weak, afraid most of the time, you never stand up for yourself! I just want to use it to help you. To make you stronger cause nothing else is working." Luciel ranted his black-like wings fluttering before he set his eyes back on Samuel a low growl coming out. "Are you crying?" He asked darkly.
Samuel shook his head as he tried to wipe away the tears, "Please don't." He said but didn't push against Luciel as he pulled him closer. Grabbing Samuels hands he jerked him forward so his hand would lay flat against the orb. Samuel let out a hiss of pain at the energy that flowed through him.
"I'm doing this for your own good." Luciel said before using his own power to turn it on more completely. A shock went through Samuels body before just as suddenly as it started it stopped. The minute that happened Samuel managed to pull away and ran off, right into God himself.
"Father!" Luciel gasped in shock watching as the large aged angel pulled Samuel against him. Every angel saw God differently and Luciel viewed him almost as an older version of himself.
"Luciel," His voice said in his head sounding rich in disappointment as he comforted Samuel. Luciel ignored that though as he came to a realization, God was back that meant he could wake Michael up! Why was he here then? He should be helping his brother not whatever this was.
"Michael you ha-"
"He's awake," God said knowing what he was gonna say. Luciel left the room almost immediately after that statement, Samuel watching him leave as he sniffled.
"Am I... wrong?" He asked God unable to get Luciels words out of his head. What he was gonna do to him. Maybe something was wrong with him? He had always loved himself but Luciel said that he was broken, wrong, Luciel was perfect so perhaps he was right.
"You were made to be who you are for a reason Samuel. You are the Angel of Loyalty and Guardianship. What that means to you is something only you will be able to know," God said before just like that he left leaving Samuel alone as the little angel wrapped his hands around his arms. For once he doubted his fathers wisdom.
