Alright so my understanding of the events is thus: Cael was infatuated with Min, not because he liked her, but because of how he could see her aura. He assumed that it was connected to his hallucinations, and through some jump in reasoning thought that if she were to disappear, that maybe he'd be normal. In other words, his stalking was not like "oh I really want to get to know this person but I'm shy", and more like "I'ma study your daily behaviors so I can catch you alone and kill you."
