I jerked awake. The dream always ended with me in this state.
Lucky it wasn't me getting lost in the forest again, unlike my first time having this dream.
I was stuck there for days on end.
The alarm clock went off a couple minutes later, as if it was able to yank me awake anyway, it was only a sign that she was coming.
As I thought these words, the door flung open, along with a resounding "Morning!".
Here comes the housemaid Hash. She always liked barging in rooms without a single knock or warning, I've learned to sleep in baggy pajamas so she doesn't catch me out in the open.
I exacted my effort to having my sleep driven body to stand up, I was too late. Hash as jubilant as ever, grabbed my ankle and dragged me out of bed and to the bathroom.
The floors are smooth enough that I won't get skin burned -- hopefully. I'm suprised by her strength consistently, I'm 6'1 and well around 100kg, yet she flings me around like an oversized sack. I reminded myself, she's an aries and a soldier in fact.
I looked at the passing windows. In this day and age, where our astrology signs dictate who we are, and our standing in the world. The twelve signs who inhibit the earth, anything else is considered lesser than us but still there is a heirarchy and tension between signs. Well, that's the gist of it rather.
Though the world is divided in a stream of alliances, rivalries, and neutralities that I hardly care about, honestly.
Hash dropped her vice-grip on my ankle, opening the door to the bathroom, "Sir, here you go."
She went towards the cabinets near me and grabbed a towel. Dropping it on me, "You should eat less so your cuts would show, like that sexy Gilera." Hash said as she walked away.
I narrowed my eyes, Gilera, a star ace player in CG -- Combat Games. My schoolmate and distant relative.
My phone vibrated, I'm glad I grabbed my phone before getting dragged out.
Speaking of the devil, I got a message from Gilera, apparently he's also my bodyguard.
I heaved a sigh, nothing I can do about it now. As I entered the bathroom, I caught sight of myself in the wide mirror encompasing the right wall.
I looked proprtionate, with an untrained eye people would call me stocky, but under the small layer of fat are well built muscles.
Hash's keen perception suprises me sometimes.
I stood there for a good minute, empty headed when it finally hit me that I was about to be late for school.
__/~__/
I rushed towards the doors of my school.
It has only been the first few weeks of school, I've settled in an akward reverie with my classmates.
This was one of the few uni-sign schools that has just started here in Beoralis.
It's safe to say that the school system and policies are still wonky, but the atmosphere of prestige and well grooming is still in the air. This is to be expected, since all the clans agreed to fund this organization, "Too build ties" they proclaimed.
It was all the same to me no matter.
I brushed by the doors, 5 minutes late. They haven't started class yet though, so I'm still safe.
Most students have the usual modern clothes, but with a touch of their ethnicity.
Almost half of them have holes, or were fashioned -- designed to proudly show the tattoo mark that representen their signs.
It could appear anywhere, from your arms, chest, back, thighs, even down there. But it is most commonly found in the torso and arms.
Roy Gilera was waiting for me at the end of the hallway, once he caught sight of me, he left.
A circle surronding two curved horns, outcropping his right shoulder. His aries mark, it's still obvious even when half covered.
I shook my head, do they really think I need a bodyguard?
I casually walked down to my classroom, even if I was 5 minutes late; who cares, it's just 5 mins.
Roy Gilera. Well, it was Royce Gilera, but as kids it didn't roll of my tounge very well so it became stuck on Roy.
His light-brown skin was very different from my rosy white. I thought nothing of it though, even as a kid it didn't matter much.
I always mocked him, if he swam in brown coffee, no one would be able to see him.
I opened the door to my classroom, rowdy, noisy, and energetic as usual. I took my seat near the back, where the vibe might be the loudest, it didn't matter much, you're gonna experience noise all the same.
The teacher came in…. Mathematics….. Here we go boys. Time to experience dying 60 times.
I steeled myself for the rest of the school day.
Sitting through the class midway through, I wasn't really listening anymore.
"Psssst." The student behind me called.
I looked around, it was Mervo; my bestfriend.
He held out his fist to me, at first glance you would think there was a live scorpion on the back of his hand, but no, it's his colorful zodiac sign. Only the water signs can have the full array of colors, like only fire signs have a circle to border their signs
I recieved the note that he held. He had pale long fingers, pianist hands he calls it, he prides himself off it.
Looking down, the letter said. Let's meet the gang later
I looked back at Mervo and mouthed where?
He did a montion like he was eating with utensils, he is sometimes looks so clueless, I smirked and nodded.

Lunch period finally came around, I went to the cafeteria with Mervo.
As usual, he was ogling with his eyes, any girl half decent enough to pass by.
"Don't tell me you're going to cheat on Maria again." I said in a condescending tone, even if it was by accident, I don't like him repeating himself.
Mervo looked at me solemnly for a moment. "There's no me and Maria anymore."
I almost would've pitied the man, if it wasn't for the blatant smirk he did by the end of it.
"So how many has it been, was Maria the third? The fourth?"
"The fifth."
"Ladies man till the end aren't we?" I shook my head.
"Hey, someone has to be, otherwise, this would be a bleak, bleak world of linear love." Mervo said, winking at someone in the process.
I smiled. "A necessary evil, so you say."
"How about you?"
"How about me what?"
"You know, when are you getting your own half?"
I did a smirk, "Unlike you, girls don't personify who I am."
He did a slight frown. "I know, but seriously, why haven't you? You're smart, handsome, tall, and the strongest person I know. You can easily double the number I get.
"Well, I never thought I'd hear these words from you."
Mervo shot me a look. I sighed, "Look I don't know, I don't want it to be superficial, like the one you get tired at with just a few months… I want it too feel special, ya know?"
"You sound like my little sister after she finishes her romance novels."
"It's not like I'm trying to find the one or anything. What I'm wanting is to actually connect, stick to my ideals.
"Yeah, Yeah, lover boy."
"I'm going to kick you."
A tap from behind interrupted our talk.
It was Anya, part of the crew. Unlike most people she didn't proudly parade her sign by wearing shoulderless clothes.
"It seems you guys arguing about something again, we tried calling you but you didn't even take note of us." She pouted.
Mervo laughed awkwardly, "We're sorry." He said while elbowing me to say something.
Ignoring him, "So where are the others?"
"Oh they're back at the table, the one you just passed by, well lets go." She said leading the way
I saw jack first, even when sitting down he looked huge. He was a 6'7, it was apparent he was taurus because of the ruddy brown skin and the black mark of the hoof on his arm.
I sat parallel to him, with Anya and thomas.
"Damn you're huge man." Mervo said patting the big guy.
Jack just shrugged, "I forget he isn't much for words." Anya commented.
Kaidan, the last guy in our group sat down beside jack without comment and just went back to reading his book.
"3 o'clock Mervo." Thomas signaled to a particular beautiful woman.
Mervo nodded and fist bumped with Thomas, "You my man, are a person of civilized nature."
I scoffed and shook my head. "I doubt using hand gestures and using codes would be a sign of a civilized nature."
"Chill, can't I enjoy being a normal guy?" Mervo snapped at me.
"He is basically saying, "Fuck off. Dickwad."" Thomas joked.
Kaidan perked up, "Yet you have to agree with what Zachary says, he offers a point."
"Thank you Kaidan! See Kaidan understands." I defended.
"Men don't you think?" Anya commented to jack
Jack just continued eating.
Even if we fought with each other.
Had different philosophies.
Different stand points.
Clashing personalities.
Unreliable standing with one another.
We still laughed and giggled together, share our pains and worries, stay reliant on each other.
Cause we are all Outcasts in the end
