"How long can you stay?" Carter asked looking at Noelle. "How long can I stay?" she countered. "As long as you want. I got a day off tomorrow." "Seriously? Why?" Noelle sat up. 

The two were sitting on the couch now, watching a movie. " 'Cause I asked  for one...hoping you would stay and spend the day with me tomorrow." He said, not looking at her. Her heart dropped and she looked down. "Carter..." she started to say. "I know, I know. We're nothing more than friends with benefits." he said, pulling her close to him again. She relaxed a little. "I was just hoping to hang out for real. Not our usual routine. I'm tired of work, and I want to spend the day with someone that doesn't totally annoy me." he said with a chuckle. 

"Oh, so I do still annoy you? Thank goodness. I thought I wasn't doing my job right." she said laughing. "Alright, I guess I could take a day off." she said after a while. He smiled. "Okay.. Hey, what's been going on with that whole marriage situation with your parents?" "Ugh.. I've been stalling for as long as I could. They wont give up though." Noelle ground , burring her face in his side. "Hahah, yeah? That sucks." "Mhm." 

Please don't try getting close again...

"Talk to me about it." Carter says shrugging her. 

Damn it...

"It's cool." "Come on. Talk to me. I told you doing this would be like in a relationship. You gotta open up to me. Trust me." he said.. "Trust.." she muttered and sat up, looking at him. "I know that's a difficult thing for you. I get it, but still. I won' hurt you." 

That isn't all though, Carter.. I don't want to hurt you...

"Okay.. Um. Well, it's stressing my out a lot." "Why?" he looked at her confused. "Because. " she laid back into his arms. "They just want me to do it so they don't look bad. It's stupid." she paused. "Besides..." her voice trailed off, not sure if she should even say what she was thinking. "Besides what?" "Never-mind. Nothing." "Tell me." 

Idiot.. you'll find me to be horrible one way or another eventually.

"It's just that I don't believe in love. So how can a person love someone that doesn't believe in love?" she asked, her body tense. 

It was silent for a while. "Well.. if they love that person, wouldn't they try to convince them otherwise?" Carter said after a moment. Noelle felt her heart skip a beat before it dropped in sadness again. 

But what if they only end up getting hurt..

Noelle thought, but all she said was, "Yeah. I guess so."
