'Well, I certainly don't feel like it, beast' I told it, pointedly, after I had managed to piece things together. I felt it mentally wince in response to my comment and tone.
'I must apologize. I have never had a human host before. I believe what you are felling is how I react to ingesting humans.' It told me.
'Greeaat....' I said with as much sarcasm as I could muster. Which wasn't very much considering my/our? head had chosen that moment to start pounding like some tribal drum at a ceremony. I uttered another moan and closed our eyes against the throbbing pain.
'Do you want me to take control? I am more used to the effects than you are.' The beast offered. I could feel the concern and worry coming from it.
'If you think it will help, than by all means, take it,' I told it as I relinquished control of the body to the beast.
The beast's mind gently brushed mine aside as it took back control. Almost immediately, I began to feel better. The extreme dizziness, weakness, and nausea all faded to much more bearable levels and the world no longer wanted to throw us to the ground. Some of the strength I had felt earlier also returned with the shift of control.
The beast straightened us from our? bent over and formerly limp position before using some of its/our? returned strength to pry our? claws from the tree where I had embedded them. It then used the tree to lower us(?) to the ground and crawled over to a relatively level spot that was clear of and sharp rocks and lumpy roots. It snagged the boy's trench coat along the way and bundle it up to as a pillow before laying down with our legs bent in away so our knees were in the air while our/ it's (?) tail was lying flat between our feet.
After laying us down, the beast closed our eyes and entered a sort of trance like meditative state which suppressed the symptoms even further. It felt like I shouldn't disturb it but, with my mind mostly clear now, I started to worry about the monster possessed kid the beast had us swallow. I didn't know if he would really be okay while he was inside of us and I did not want or need someone to get killed over what I had done. I could still remember what the beast had told the kid but it did little to assuage my fears. The main reason, aside from protecting Indy and my family, for finding and releasing the beast was because I didn't want anyone else to get hurt due to the choices I had made. Monsters, of course, were not included.
'What is wrong?' The beast suddenly asked me, coming partly out of its meditative trace to speak to me. Its voice snapped me out of my brooding and I realized it must've sensed my worry even though I hadn't said anything.
'Sorry for disturbing you but I'm worried about that boy. Is he really going to be okay?' I asked it.
