I ran with my brother following behind me, trying to get to the school. We never thought that our trip to school was this hard. Heck, we never even encountered so much obstacle along the way. But cause zombies everywhere, We-- I shrugged them off and let Tyler off to school first and warned the guard. At first, they didn't believe us. But, they let us in for the sake of safety.
I breathed hard along with my brother. They looked at us worriedly.
"Are you both really alright? You two looked like cat that just fight and ran away." We wanted to yell at him for joking at times like these but then some noise are heard at the gate.
*SMACK!*
I looked at it and saw blood dripping off from the bat that the guards had.
"What the hell are you doing?!" One of the guards seemed to breathe harder this time.
"He bit me... I couldn't shake it off..."
He started to sway and dropped the bat to the ground. I felt something really worst are going to happen so I backed away with my brother. And I looked at my brother that started shaking a little and frightened at the sight infront of him makes me more concerned.
"He changed..." Ty whispered. What?
My brother paled as he continued to watch the sight in front of him. I'm not going to stand by and watch again so I grabbed my brother's right hand to the front door of our school. The other guards who still in shock are watching the sight but I closed it and locked it.
"Argghh!" He screams and then dropped at the ground with body still twitching at the unknown substance going through him. He turns his head towards us and looked lifeless. And suddenly, he woke up and tried to attack the guard who stood still on the sideline. He aimed for the defenseless neck and bited through it. Of course, anybody would scream cause of the pain but I ignored it and started drag my brother down the hall. We ran and found group of people on the closed classroom.
"Hey, excuse me! Could you let me and my brother in?" They looked at eachother before opens up the door. We rushed in and took deep breath that we've held back before.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?" They didn't know anything at all? But it's so loud outside.
"You guys really didn't know? There's zombies everywhere!" One of three stood dumbfounded while my brother and I took a seat at the empty chair.
"I don't know when or how did this happen but trust me. It's dangerous outside right now." A girl wearing hoodie came to me and asked.
"Ok, we believe you. But we need to go to others in the classroom above." She intended to go right now?!
"Go ahead. But we stay here." Tyler just sat in silent and held my hand. I'm sure that he's still shock about what happened but there's one thing that I can decipher from his face. Is it guilt?
"Ok, see you later." They went out and closed the door. I sighed loudly with Tyler besides me.
"Hey, Rere. Did you read my files?" I turned my head to his and shakes my head.
"Our father did." He seemed reluctant but still pressed on.
"Look, I have something that i hide from you." My eyes are wide open, thinking that maybe he's gone crazy from the situation but his expression tells me otherwise.
"I-I can sense people brainwaves." Eh?
"My ex-father are scientist, he... put something on my brain. I don't know what it is but it allows me to sense people. Their brainwave, to be exact." He told me, a little shaking on his seat. But I put my hand on his shoulder to calm him down.
"I'm sorry i didn't tell you before." Tyler went silent, not saying anything again. I looked at him and then outside.
"That's okay. But i'm sorry too, Ty." He turned his head to me, curious to what i'm referring too. But I didn't continued on. He noticed to what i meant and said.
"Oh... that? It's fine! Look, i'm okay! D—"
"I know about that! I just—" He turned my head towards him and put his forehead to mine.
"Like what dad always said, we're family. That's what matters." I realized that he really mean it. He grew up without me knowing it.
We stayed there for the night, waiting for the day to pass by. The group from before never came back when we woke up the next morning. So after breakfast, we both decided to find shelter and supply.
I looked at the plate on the door, it says "Class 7-F". That's why we didn't know who the groups are. We never had friends with this class, knowing Tyler, he probably just forgotten about them. Cause at orientation, anyone must remember people from different class to create harmony among their generation.
We walked through the halls and find bloodied walls on the right side.
"What is this?" Ty took closer look and smells something. But i dragged my brother further away from there and hurried down the hall.
"It’s blood, Ty. Don’t you realize that?" He shakes his head. I just sighed.
"Look, don’t ever wander on your own without me and always be right with me." We made an agreement and finally arrive outside.
