Green heard a knock at the door. Cedric was snoozing after producing his latest batch of corrections. Learning to write well was hard, but that wasn’t the focus right now.
Green opened the door and found a prussian blue cat man at his cottage.
“Hello?”
“Hi, I’m a bit lost. Can I come in for a minute? I don’t feel comfortable using my tools out in the open in a place like this,”
Green nodded and beckoned him in.
“Do what you need to do, stranger, and I’ll be right here if you need anything,” said Green.
“My name’s Mordred, and--” said Mordred.
Green gave him a weird look.
“You’re… the reincarnation of Arthur’s son?” Green asked. “It doesn’t matter to me, but in this time period, in this area, I wouldn’t tell everyone that. Camelot only fell 100 years ago.. How were you brought back so soon?”
“I have superscience tools that allow me to manipulate time and space to get me where I need to go. I wasn’t brought back this soon. It’s been roughly 999 years since I died, or whatever,”
“I see. Well, hopefully you’ve learned lessons from your previous experience,” said Green.
Mordred checked his tools, his instruments, and located himself in space and time.
“You can stick around for a while if you want. Talk, whatever,” said Green.
“Thank you. I may take you up on that, if I’m not intruding,” said Mordred, giving the sleeping Cedric a hard stare.
So he did. Green made him a room from scratch, and Mordred kept working with his inventions there. Mordred made a door clumsily from scratch and connected it to his other work spaces.
He stopped by Bob’s apothecary for a meal, and they talked for a long time.
