If I don’t draw cute talking birds seeking the forgotten secrets of the universe, I'm likely writing dark sci-fantasy novels and horror short stories, or randomly throwing paint on a canvas hoping it will look good.
Running under the rain while being chased by seagulls is also an option.
I did it!! I finally published the first episode of the graphic novel I created 20 years ago!!!
This story, its characters, and the world I built have shaped every creative project I've worked on since then. I tried moving away from it, but nothing had the same impact. Among countless other aborted ideas, this was the first one that I carried on to its completion, drawing 1-2 hours almost every day for four years while being in high school.
After that, I thought about rewriting it as a novel, restructuring it, or even redrawing it. But no. I love it the way it is. After 20 years, I can look back and be proud of my teenage self. Back then, I didn't overthink things—I didn’t worry about story structure, genre, or target audience. I just wanted to have fun and create something that entertained me.
Now, as an adult, I still feel that same passion and excitement for this story. That has to be a good sign, right? I hope you’ll enjoy it just as much!
