You should see me now - lying in bed with my laptop at almost two in the morning, working away at an event I think you people will love.
You see, the Spooky Month, with all its sweater weather and pumpkin spice everything, is almost upon us. And this year, I will be trick-or-treating you guys with an original spooky short story on every Saturday in October! I just now finished the very first Spooky Saturdays short and I think you'll really enjoy it.
Spooky Saturdays shorts will be SFW and rated T (12+) at the very most. They might contain non-graphic depictions of illness, injury and death, so if that's not something you should be reading right now, no hard feelings!
Make sure to follow my series Shorts to catch every installment! https://tapas.io/series/hat-and-goggles-shorts
Synopsis:
A tale as old as time: the beauty, the beast and the vampire hunter.
Lucille West is a newly turned vampire without a sire or a single idea of where to take her undeath from here,
Abigail “Abby” van Helmond is a vampire hunter on a mission and Nina...
Well, Nina Harper just wants to help.
Preview:
A pair of shining, red eyes hovered over me.
They didn’t frighten me. After all, I knew
it was her.
No, what frightened me was the feeling draining away from my fingers and toes. What frightened me was my vision swimming around the edges. What frightened me was the growing puddle of blood I was lying in.
“Shit, shit, shit. I’m so sorry Nina, I shouldn’t have let this happen to you,” she said, using a shaking hand to stroke my hair. To comfort me.
I tried to speak up to comfort her, but all that came out was unintelligible gurgling followed by a cough, sending up a spray of my own blood.
Someone else hushed me, then knelt down by me - opposite her. “Don’t try to speak. It’ll only be more painful.” Abby. Ever pragmatic.
“We can save her, right?” she asked.

Be Gay, Solve Crimes (working title) is a Sherlock Holmes inspired, lesbian romance.
Synopsis:
Crime blogger and amateur detective Jodie Lawson finally pins Amsterdam’s most prolific detective for hire, known to most of the world as ‘the Freelancer’, down for a phone interview only to rush out on her in order to meet someone for a more permanent place of residence in the Dutch capital.
Though unbeknownst to her, the woman she’s meeting with turns out to be one and the same person. Sherry Huizinga.
Preview:
For the first few seconds, there seemed to be no response from inside the house.
Jodie was about to ring the doorbell again when she heard the loud, hollow sounds of someone stumbling down the stairs, mixed with indistinct Dutch cussing.
The door swung open, revealing a complete mess of a woman. An almost sickly pale complexion, contrasted by dark circles under her eyes and dark hair messily tied into a bun.
“Sorry about that,” she said, accent barely noticeable, but there all the same. “You must be Jodie.”
Jodie nodded and extended her hand. “Yes, Jodie Lawson.”
The other woman took it and shook it, chapped lips quirking into a smile. The look in the woman’s eyes did more to unsettle her than to comfort her. “The crime blogger?”

Can I get a wahoo? This Sunday marks my Patreon's 1 year anniversary! That's reason for a celebration and I have just the thing 😉
I've been sitting on not one, but two concepts for (semi-) original stories and I'll be posting both of them for my $1 and up patrons over the weekend!
Check out this (public!) post for the details!

Due to increased popularity, I've decided to rewrite and translate the epilogue I wrote for the very first draft of the book. So, surprise! You all get an extra mini-chapter that isn't even in the Dutch print edition!
I just remembered that I never gave you guys a better look at the cover of The Princess and the Squire, so I figured I would combine that with the release date announcement!
The first episode of the Princess and the Squire will go live on Tapas on August 5th, and will update bi-weekly on Mondays and Thursdays!
If you can't wait until then, and would like to follow the progress of the translation and maybe leave a note or two on my choice of words, you can do that through my Patreon as a $1 (and up) patron!
Last week I finally received my minor-certificate, which could only mean one thing: the novel I've been working on since January, has been finished! I'm currently in the process of translating the chapters to English, which will start releasing here in August!
You can follow the progress of the translation, and even leave comments and suggestions, through my Patreon!

With the second draft of my queer princess novel speeding towards completion, I figured it wouldn't be more than fair than to give you guys an idea of what you can look forward to.
This is the link to the first chapter of the first draft of The Princess and the Squire. It's a public post, so even non-Patrons can read it!
I promise, the final version will be better. This was just the only content of the book I had on hand that was translated into English.
