Shelby and the Blooms was created for my art students, and continues to be inspired by them.
I majored in fine arts in a college that- at the time- tended to promote abstract art, but I always strayed toward more representational, narrative work. It wasn't until a few years ago that I rebelled against my fine art training, and fully embraced comics, illustration, and animation. I am much happier now!

Hi everyone,
I thought I'd stop by to share some updates. Since finishing season 1 of Shelby and the Blooms, I got a literary agent, and we began shopping the story to the big publishers. It didn't sell because there was a glaring inconsistency in the plot, further on in the story. I put Shelby aside (vowing to rewrite it, but little will change from what you've seen as there is no problem with the first half), and began writing a story about two alien siblings who get marooned on a deadly planet. I then put that one aside, because I later realized the main character needed more development. Right now I'm working on my third graphic novel manuscript about a character named Chubicorn and his friend Donusis. I've included a sample page of this latest story. So anyway, I don't know what the future holds for me here, but if you want to keep up with what I'm doing, my Instagram is the place to be (@jonsaintamant).
