Hello subscribers, I just wanted to share an update on my writing.
I've had a very productive month. I took a break from my novel to write a novella set after the events of my novel. Switching projects got my creative juices flowing and helped restore my motivation, and I'm pumping out new material on a consistent weekly schedule. Once I finish the novella, which will probably be in a few weeks, I'll return to writing my novel.
As of right now, my web novel has 95 episodes published, and Episodes 96 through 111 are scheduled to be released every Friday and Saturday for the next couple of months. Episodes 1 through 111 coincide with Pages 1 through 400 of my manuscript, and I have an additional 57 manuscript pages written that I'll try to finish editing and scheduling on Tapas sometime in the next couple of months. I estimate the complete manuscript will probably be around 700 pages (roughly 200 Tapas episodes), which I hope to complete within the next year.
Hello readers, I apologize for not posting an episode last Friday. I didn't realize I'd run out of pre-scheduled episodes. I need time to edit and schedule the next sections of Eidolon City: Crossroads, so I'll be taking the remainder of March off. Episode 71 - Entitlement (Part 2) will be posted on April 5, 2024. Thank you for your patience.
Eureka! After FIFTEEN MONTHS, I finally finished revising Episodes 1 through 55 (Chapter 1 through the first half of Chapter 9) for Eidolon City: Crossroads based on my writing coach's feedback! Now I can start publishing new episodes! I've received feedback from my writing coach for the second half of Chapter 9 up through Chapter 14, and I'm about to start writing the rough draft for Chapter 15. Once I start editing my current rough drafts, you most patient of subscribers will start receiving new episodes. Thank you everyone for your patience thus far. Expect Episode 56 soon!
Good news, my writing coach has finished reviewing my manuscript for Eidolon City: Crossroads up to the latest episode of my web novel, and I'm actually writing new material now. I'm currently writing Chapter 10.
Not so good news, I still have to revise Episodes 27 through 54 based on my writing coach's feedback before I start posting new episodes. I apologize for the long wait, but we're just about at the home stretch. I'm almost done revising Chapter 5 (Episodes 27 through 32), so expect the updates to that section of my web novel soon.
This weekend, I hired a writing coach to help me continue my web novel. Specifically, she’ll provide feedback for content editing and will hold me to a consistent schedule of 2,500 words (roughly 2 – 3 episodes) per week. I hope to maintain a steady writing pace from now on by having someone there to hold me accountable for my progress.
Before we begin any new episodes, my writing coach needs to work with me on the first 52 episodes I’ve already published to have a complete understanding of the story. So there won’t be any new episodes for at least 21 weeks. In the meantime, you’ll likely receive notifications whenever I revise preexisting episodes, and depending on how extensive those revisions are, I may have to reboot a latter portion of this web novel and unpublish several episodes to coarse correct the story. However, I hope it won’t come to that.
I've been reluctant to share exactly why I’ve taken multiple extended hiatuses, because it concerned the health of certain members of my family, and I was apprehensive about divulging their private business, but I think circumstances are now such that I can be more open with all of you.
For five years, I’ve been helping my mother take care of my father, who had vascular dementia. My mother has been dealing with her own medical problems, most notably a broken hip and arm last year, which have adversely affected her mobility. So for the past year, I’ve also been her caregiver. My father passed away last August, and so some of my responsibilities have diminished, but I needed time to recover emotionally. My father’s mental and physical deterioration has been a long and frightening process, and I’ve struggled the last few years with severe stress, anxiety, and depression.
Thank you all for your patience these past couple of years. I know how frustrating it can be when web novelists just stop their stories without warning or explanation, but I hope to continue this story soon.
To my current subscribers, I tried to get back into my writing and managed to post one new episode this month, but I'm dealing with problems IRL that cause me a great deal of depression and anxiety and make it impossible for me to focus on writing. I apologize to everyone waiting for the next episodes. I will continue my webnovel once I get a handle on things, but I need to take another hiatus for the time being to work through my difficult situation. Thank you for understanding.
Hi, everyone. Thank you all for your patience during my hiatus. I plan to continue my urban fantasy serial, Eidolon City: Crossroads, later this month, either on January 22 or January 29. I've also been conceptualizing a possible second serial, a BL high fantasy romance with a redemption arc for one of the main characters. I'm still brainstorming and outlining this new serial, so I can't say if or when I'll start writing and publishing it, but it's something to keep your eye out for if you're a fan of the "love redeems" trope.
