Ok! Tapas modified their ToS and removed the clunky (and kind of wrongly worded Right of First Refusal) entirely. I appreciate this effort from them and for now my decision is to remain on the site.
I'm really happy about this, but I will also note that I am keeping a close eye on the ToS in the future, in which case it should be noted that I always will update on my main site as well.

Hey everyone so as you're probably all aware there is some pretty intense stuff going on with the updated Tapas ToS. I haven't made any decisions yet but will watch the evolution of this incredibly closely.
There will be a comic update on sunday but for now it's going to be on my main site only at www.thelostoracle.com. You can also follow announcements on my Patreon, where I will make any major announcements even to those who don't support the comic.

A lot of people seem to be confused about what "Right of First Refusal" means. I suggest looking it up on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_of_first_refusal and seeing what you think, but it does not mean that, for instance, they can stop you from printing your comic, only that, continuing with my example, if you wanted to get your comic printed, you would have to first give them a chance to be the ones to do it. (If they tried to refuse, you would then have the option to go somewhere else. That's what "First Refusal" means.)
Yeah, definitely a communication problem on their side. . . .
Just a thought but only desktop users get notified of these types of updates. Might want to upload an episode explaining the situation and where to find you for the mobile viewers.

Also to be perfectly honest I'm not looking to do anything commercial with my comic in the forseeable future - however the way Tapas went about doing this and using misleading and confused language in their ToS just gave me a really bad feeling. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for now but I still don't think it was a good or trustworthy move.

I get it, one can express disappointment with a service and still use it. It does remind us all to be vigilant, and read those TOS!

Hey kids! Sorry for the lack of update today. Tough week as my dog of 14 years is being put down and I went home to say goodbye. It's been a weekend of cuddles and crying and I just couldn't get myself to update the comic.
