My name is A.L. Davidson/MaybeMockingbird, I'm a queer and disabled indie author that loves writing genre-blending stories, tales of heartwarming and horrifying romance, and the coziest sci-fi and urban fantasies you’ll find this side of the galaxy. I specialize in narratives filled with ghosts, grief, isolation, queerness, life with disabilities, ecohorror, space exploration, slow burn romance, and the human condition.
I am best known for my multi-award nominated web novel The Night Farm, as well as my short story series, R-PNZL: A Futuristic Fairytale and my collection of horrormance novellas. I am a 2023 Indie Ink, Queer Indie, Pushcart Prize, and BBNYA nominee, and a 2024 Small Spec and Indie Ink nominee. The Night Farm was a Favorite Community Novel finalist in the Inkies, too!
I currently lives with way too many plants and my cat, Jukebox The Ghost. When I'm not writing, you can find me at the funeral home working a shift, playing cozy video games, or diving into my ever-growing manga pile.

Just a friendly upload schedule for Night Farm chapters across both Tapas and Patreon for the month of May - my birthday month! ONE HOUR AWAY! The season two finale of The Night Farm is on its way! I hope you're ready!
Hi y'all! It's Inksgiving time and I'm so excited! I set a low goal of 5,000 just for fun. Since my first Inksgiving was only a few months after The Night Farm premiered back in 2023, I really have no idea what to expect now that there are so many of you!
If we hit that 5,000 goal I plan on releasing a little bonus story a few days after Inksgiving ends.
If we hit 10,000 I'll do a bonus story for Lonely Planet Hotel!
If we hit 15,000 I think it would be super fun to do a "Go On A Date With" story where I do a POV story of you, the reader, going on a date with a Night Farm character that we can vote on (I have a feeling it'll be Cane, though haha)
And if we hit 20,000 I'll do a one-shot AU story about Rhys and Lex meeting in college!

Season two of Lonely Planet Hotel is dropping in just a few hours here on Tapas and I can't wait to welcome everyone back to the cozy Antarctic resort!
This season continues to follow the daily lives of the expanding staff of The Lonely Planet Hotel as they serve the eclectic guests that arrived the month prior. With February bringing new hires, new challenges, and new romance to the quiet resort, Ellis begins to discover how rewarding healing can actually be once he's able to wrap his mind around it. The staff must begin preparing for the incoming dark season that is rapidly approaching, along with an influx of guests, but the Lisle's new outlook on life and how he runs his hotel require some changes to be made to keep the facility going - some that the tenured staff members may push back on when their comfortable way of life is threatened. All the while, Ellis must come to terms with his burgeoning relationship with the mysterious writer, and the reality of his departure in a short few months...
It's a two-part episode, and I can't wait for you all to read it!

So, The Night Farm didn't win in The Inkies, I'm really sad but super grateful for everyone who did take the time to vote for and support the series. A bit of a late night, random update here on a Monday but OMG Y'ALL! I just got the official email from Tapas that The Night Farm is a finalist for The Inkies for Favorite Community Novel! I am honored, shooketh, teary-eyed, excited, confused, and so very thankful! Thank you to everyone who nominated the series, I'm honestly stunned. Y'all know how much The Night Farm means to me, so seeing how much you guys love it gives me the warm fuzzies! I've been editing book two for the printers for weeks and working on season three edits and season four's first draft, alongside planning out a prequel novella and the third book in the spin-off series, and I've been SO stressed thinking that none of it is good enough. This gave me the spark of energy and joy I needed to knock out all of my to-dos and dive back into edits this week! I'm going to make sure it's the best it can be for you guys, so thank you for reading! It's so humbling to see TNF among such amazing titles, my TBR list just grew by a ton!
