My name is A.L. Davidson (also known as MaybeMockingbird), I'm a queer and disabled indie author that loves writing genre-blending stories, tales of heartwarming and horrifying romance, and the coziest sci-fi and urban fantasies you’ll find this side of the galaxy. I specialize in narratives filled with ghosts, grief, isolation, queerness, life with disabilities, ecohorror, space exploration, slow burn romance, and the human condition.
I am best known for my multi-award nominated web novel series "The Night Farm", as well as my short story series, "R-PNZL: A Futuristic Fairytale" and my collection of horrormance novellas. I am a 2023 Indie Ink, Queer Indie, Pushcart Prize, and BBNYA nominee, and a 2024 Small Spec and Indie Ink nominee. The Night Farm was a Favorite Community Novel finalist in the 2024 Inkies, too!
I currently lives with way too many plants and my cat, Jukebox The Ghost. When I'm not writing, you can find me at the haunted museum I work at, playing cozy video games, or diving into my ever-growing manga pile.

This is shaping up to be the most romance and drama-filled season, and I am so excited to welcome readers back one last time to the halls of my Antarctic hotel! I’m also going to use this as the chance to sneak in a tease about the upcoming Kickstarter for volume one in the spring because I am DYING to do a full edit and print run of this book series. This is the tentative release schedule across Patreon and Tapas this week with new chapters of The Night Farm, The Funeral Friends, and Afternoons at The Acid and Apothecary - as well as a brand new Nights in New Eden novelette - on the way!

Hello everyone! We are ONE WEEK away from Halloween (OMG) and I have some news and updates! The third chapter of the Night Farm AU story "The Spectral Squad" is coming in a few short moments, and next week I'm hoping to drop the rest of the story so you can have a whole chunk of ghost hunting goodness to binge read! Next Wednesday I'll also be dropping the next chapter of The Funeral Friends, which you should definitely be reading if you're craving some more Night Farm goodness! It's shaping up to be a super fun series with some of my favorite characters and a lot of cool lore!

Exciting news! I finished writing season two of Lonely Planet Hotel! The entire season has been scheduled out here on Tapas and will wrap in late November, the "February" season is longer than I planned but I love how it's coming together and how it ties everything up in a nice bow! I hope you'll check the series out if you haven't yet! It's such a fun and cozy story, and seventy four total chapters across two seasons means you'll have plenty to read!
Some bittersweet news today! I posted a full announcement but I do want to also post about it here, as well, that I will be shifting the remainder of The Night Farm (aka it's last two seasons) to a Patreon exclusive series - so the series will end here at season two on Tapas! I have tons more in store for my amazing readers, a new series down the line, and plenty of bonus content on the way. This was an IMPOSSIBLE decision, one that I've been mulling over since APRIL OF 2024 - that's how long I delayed this decision so please believe me when I say that it wasn't easy. It hurt so bad and I am upset about it but I have to do what's best for me and my stories and, at this current moment, this is what's best so I hope you all understand! The tears have been coming all day so I ask for your patience and understanding in this.
