I just wanted to say a big thank you for all the support shown to Endless Seas, both in the competition and outside of it.
Hearing back from others about my work has been a real gift and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. A lot of hard work and emotions go into putting something out there and it was one of the scariest things in the world for me to to open up and let people in.
I was that teenager, and then that adult, that kept everything to myself and only showed maybe one or two people what I was working on, so it was a big step for me to decide to start putting my work out there and to say I was shitting a brick would be a huge understatement.
But thank you. I went into this thinking that it was my job to get people to feel things, but the longer I'm at it, the more I realise that that's not true. Taking down walls is scary and being vulnerable in front of people is even scarier, but you've been pushing me and every day I sit in front of my computer and end up feeling something I wasn't expecting to... and it's all your fault!

This is no offence to anyone named in Enid, but I hated the name Enid for this book - it didn't fit the time period, it didn't really have that ring I was looking for and I just really wasn't feeling it, but Enid just wouldn't leave me alone.
I'd just come back from a trip where we were a bunch of international people of all ages sitting on a beach in the middle of nowhere and somehow the topic got onto Enid Blyton. Suddenly everyone was talking about who would be which character and which book was their favourite and getting really excited over this thing we all seemed to have in common. I knew then and there that that kind of feeling, of community and shared excitement, is what I wanted to give both to my female lead and my book, and I just couldn't shake the name Enid.
Finally, I gave in and committed to naming her Enid, if only so I could get started on it and get some of these feelings down on paper, but when I finished the story, I decided it was time I found out what the name actually meant.
Enid is a Welsh name. I didn't know that at the time, but I grew up in Wales and some of my family is Welsh, so already there the name went up a notch in my book, but then I found out that Enid means life. Anyone who's already read Endless Seas knows what Enid brings to the story and to the people she meets and now I know that that was without a doubt a gift from the creative gods.
Now from the bottom of my heart I can say that I've never been more wrong about a name before and I can officially state that I love the name Enid, both for the story and for myself.
So with that being said, it's been a great week for Endless Seas and it's so wonderful to see so many new faces over there! Remember to show your support if you want to see Endless Seas winning in inkitt's historical romance competition by clicking the link and writing comments on the chapters!
