The Future of EYK
I may be forced to move off of Tapas.Io, due to their new TOS and their First Right of Refusal. Many comics are leaving because of this, so if you would like to keep seeing EYK and others hosted on Tapas, I hope you speak up on their forums and in email. From what I've heard, the wording is just bad and that creators still have complete control but can receive money from Tapas to stay. I'd like to see the 30 days prior warning gone, though.
Specifically, what this means is that if a publisher wants to publish EYK, I need to give Tapas 30 days to see if they want to buy it. However, due to their broad wording, I am also required to give them 30 days if I want to sell self-published books, prints or merchandise and seems to also imply I need to give them 30 days notice for publishing off-site as well. It's extremely shady.
Feelin' REAL UNCOMFORTABLE about the new Tapas right of first refusal here. It's sneaky and underhanded.
